When I look back on my photography journey, I am just in awe. I remember writing this post with this really artsy photo about wanting to learn photography. I had hoped that I would grow but I couldn't ever envision being on this side of things. 8 years later I am "able to take beautiful photos of my family" like I had hoped I would. I only needed to start. To try, practice, learn, and overtime I not only have been able to create beautiful photos of my family that I love, I also have a style, a ... continue reading...
Snapshots with Our Kansas City Cousins
I am the oldest in a family of four kids. And like the obedient, perfect, responsible, favorite, oldest daughter I am ;) , I stayed here. My siblings all moved away. LAME. The Rules of Book Club
Welcome to my newly formed book club section here on Oak + Oats. It is not exactly a book club because we don't all plan to read each book together at the same time, but it is a place that I am sharing all the books I've read so it is a club of books in that sense... plus you can always read a book after me and come back to comment on the post!! That would kind of be the dream to continue the conversation so don't be shy if you're thinking that may be you! ;) If you click through the archives ... continue reading...
Artifact Uprising Disney Photo Books
Peek-a-Boo! We had our first official Ridings family (my side) reunion in 2020. I know, what a year to have it ;) But it was the first one since all the kids were married and with all three grandchildren. There was a lot of time we didn't think it was going to be able to happen but it did!! We went to Disney World and while I didn't love all the changes COVID brought with it, we still made so many memories and had so much fun. It was so historic not just for our family (all 13 of us ... continue reading...
An Ode to Instagram
Today I opened Instagram. I haven't opened it for awhile. I used to click on the little camera icon without even thinking. It was so natural to scroll through Instagram multiple times a day. To like & comment and post moments right as/ after they happened. I'm not saying my relationship with Instagram was always healthy, but the fact that I don't feel excited to open the app anymore says something. Today I opened the app to see photos from the people I follow. I didn't click on stories, ... continue reading...
