On August 18th we celebrated eight years of marriage. Literally as long as our high school + college years combined And I have to say these last year’s have been the best years of my life. Not to discount those 24 years pre Mayberry but sharing and making a life with Bruce Mayberry has been one of the Lord’s sweetest gifts in my life!
As we were driving to dinner we were pointing out the empty car seats in the back, expressing our shock over how fast things can change, reflecting over the last eight yearsand being extra thankful for a night out to celebrate.
There are a lot of things I love about marriage but one of the best ones is sharing a life. When we left the house Bruce exclaimed “Eight Years! Best years of my life!” in a joking but serious way because we both agree that building a life together has been one of the best things we have done!
Historically we like to go to the Broadmoor for our anniversary dinner but this year COVID wouldn’t let us! We had to switch up the plans which was both nerve-wrecking and exciting. I love my traditions but I also love new places – I am a oxymoron 😉 After an Instagram poll and several texts out to friends, Bruce made a reservation for us at Bonny & Read, a delicious seafood restaurant downtown! It was a great choice and we even got Megan to meet up with us and take some fancy anniversary photos!
I’m writing this post several days after this date and I can hear Bruce in the other room reading “Dragons love Tacos” to the girls in the best reading voice. I’m so thankful for who he is as a husband, as a friend, as a son, and as a father! Marriage isn’t always super easy but I can tell you that it is filled with so many of the best gifts. When you marry your best friend and honor your commitment to each other, these years together can be the greatest of them all!
All my sappy, sappy, love!
PS: believe it or not, I’ve done posts for all our anniversaries so feel free to check them all out! HAHA! One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, and Seven!
PPS: Dress is from The Local Honey!
