Every year since we’ve been married (besides the one year we didn’t) we head out to pick up our Christmas tree Thanksgiving weekend. We’re a real tree kind of family and I love to get the tree up in our home asap to really get the Christmas Spirit going. This year was our first year with little Hilde girl! I’ve shared in the past about Traditions and why they mean so much to me, but passing them on to my child is more exciting than I could have known. She has no idea that we were picking out a tree to take home or why we were doing it, but she did give us some smiles and snuggles on the trip and I’ve got a blog post full of photos documenting it!
We went early in the morning right when Good Earth Garden Center opened up (something we do more now that we wake up at 7 am with a baby) and looked through all the trees. We typically end up with a Frasier Fir but we also like to try out new trees. This year we went with a Black Hills Spruce. I just couldn’t get over the color of the branches so it won. We keep saying we will remember how each tree did (held up ornaments, amount of shedding, how dry it gets, etc) but we always forget. Maybe this year we will remember to record all the stats! lol. Anyone else do this? Or do you already have a perfect Christmas tree variety you get every year?
No one was at the lot when we got there (the benefit of going at opening) so we took our time and took some photos. We would have done photos even if it was busy (because we do them every year… one, two, three, four, five), but I always love an empty location for photos because it is less stressful and you don’t have to worry about being in anyone’s way. Picking out our tree this year also solidified the dream I have to have a Christmas farm one day #dreambig.
