Our First Fire Pit

Well it is not the most photogenic but I felt like documenting it non-the-less! We built our own fire pit in our new backyard with the rocks we dug out of it! The backyard needed some serious work and once spring & quarentine hit, we took to the backyard to make it more livable for us all. We have big dreams for this space and we’re tackling once project at a time.

The first step was cleaning up the yard, then adding fill dirt to help prevent our house from flooding, then some fancy dirt to help the grass grow. While Hilde doesn’t mind the dirt yard, we sure do! We’re so excited to see things taking shape and once the grass and mulch are in, the yard will feel much more completed! Then starts the fun projects like building a sandbox, a play house, and some raised beds! I’m also trying to figure out what to do with this fence… we don’t have the money to replace it but I am not super into the patchwork look. I mentioned it on my stories and people said to try power washing, so we are going to do that!

Everything we are doing to our backyard is to make it more fun for creating memories as a family. Our girls love spending time outside and the backyard is such a great way to do it! Plus I’ve always dreamed of having a fire pit for nights like this.

Cheers to the in between seasons of life – they still can be beautiful!

PS: We have had this fire pit for 5 years and it just lived at our friends home & then my parents home until we moved in here! I think it is kind of hilarious that we’ve owned it for so long and are just now having our first fire in it in our own backyard!
