Ask Elizabeth: Where do you get your girls outfits? They both always look so cute!
Awe! Thanks! I am not going to lie, I have lots of fun picking out outfits for the girls! It is way more fun to dress them than dress myself! And now that I have two girls, I really have to stop myself from going too crazy!
Fair Warning: This post took me forever to put together becasuse I had too much fun finding photos of outfits from each store/ category to feature! I included as many links as I could, but a lot of these exact outfits are no longer around but the brands are!
H&M Kids
I’ve been finding a lot of my favorite items at H&M these days! I didn’t discover it until later in Hilde’s life. And by “later” I mean around age one so she really wasn’t missing out on much time! Their Conscious line is one of my favorites so I just occasionally browse what they have for baby girls. They also have a lot of basics we love – like headbands, bodysuits, and leggings. H&M is the biggest chunk of their closet.
Pro Tip: I have found that their clothes run a bit large so if you are between sizes, round down.
Old Navy
Old Navy is great. The price is typically low and I always keep an eye out for their sales!
Pro Tip: I always check for pajamas here first when the girls need more. I LOVE their jammies and am usually impressed with their styles & patterns.
GAP
I also do a lot of shopping at Old Navy’s sister store GAP! I typically shop GAP for my closset since I don’t outgrow things in 4 weeks, but I do love their kids clothes too! I am a huge fan of their styles and the quality so I wait for sales to grab things for the girls too.
Pro Tip: I have found my favorite Disney outfits here! They always hit it out of the park with the cute Disney! So if you are planning a Disney trip, check here! They are great for vacation and home life!
Amazon
As an Amazon Prime member I do a lot of shopping here! Mostly for everything else in my life, but I have found some fun clothing for the girls here too. Shoes and bows are some of the most purchased through Amazon! Shop my Amazon Girl’s Clothing purchases here!
Pro Tip: I have found some cute outfits just by searching the archives of Amazon, but I also love to type in my favorite brands for better prices and free shipping! HAHA. Brands like Kyte Baby, Burts Bees Baby, Chacos, Teva, etc. You can also do this with toy brands like Manhattan Toy Company or Mon Ami.
Wander & Wonder
This is a small brand that I just adore. I found them on Instagram and have purchased several outfits for me and the girls!
Pro Tip: Follow her on Instagram so you know when the next launch is! She isn’t always open for orders so you have to wait for her to open back up to get your order in!
Finn & Emma
Finn & Emma has the cutest body suits! I love getting the girls matching shirts from here – or at least shirts that complement each other like the big & lil sis!! They also have great toys! The Play Gym is one of our (and the girl’s ) favorite toys!
Hand Me Downs & Consignment Stores
Another place I love to get clothing is second hand! We have some friends who pass down girl items for us to go through but I also love to look at places like Thred Up and Once Upon a Child. When I am searching online for second hand, I look for my favorite brands – Gap Baby, Old Navy, H&M, Hanna Anderson, Gymboree (it was one of my favorite places to shop before they shut down!!), etc. I do the same in person but I also just go by the way things look and the quality. More often than not, something that draws my eye is a brand I already love!
There are a lot of other places I’ve purchased an outfit or two – Hanna Anderson (when things are on sale!), buybuy BABY, etsy shops, Target (not the biggest fan of their clothes personally), etc but these are some of my main go-tos.
As a rule of thumb, when shopping for the girls, I think of versatility – How many other items in their closest will this go with? Could someone else easily put together a cute outfit with what is in our drawers? Can my kids move in this? Is this a pain to change a diaper in?
I think a big part of the “always looking cute” comment in the Ask Elizabeth question is that I am picky about what the girls own clothing wise. I don’t keep all our hand-me-downs. I don’t buy everything that I like online. I’m intentional about the items we add to our girl’s closet because they only will be able to wear them for a short while and I want them to get good use of everything while they can. I also stick with colors I love that mix and match well so that dressing them is easy and it is hard to find a “not cute” outfit to put them in!
I finally figured out that sticking to a style/ color palate for your life isn’t boring, it is unifying. I just started doing it for my home and my closet (and Bruce’s too) the last couple years and now I do it for the girls too. When a brand launches a cute neon line for toddlers, I know that while it may be completely adorable, it is not for us and that is okay.

They have the cutest outfits for baby girls now! I love shopping for my friends baby girls.
Love your style! Thanks for sharing 🙌
They always look so cute! Baby girl clothes are so much fun!
Having a color palette for the girls clothes is so smart! It weeds out so many choices and temptations! I love that you shop a number of different stores but they all go so well together!
