Packing the Hospital Bag Round 2

I packed early for Hilde and late for Millie. Even after two close calls, I didn’t pack until the night before my c-section. I guess that is just the procrastinator in me. And maybe just a tad bit of denial – the nine months went by in the blink of an eye and the idea of having another baby in my arms was a bit hard to imagine.

It’s funny having a date in your head. With Hilde, we had no idea when she would come and we just waited and waited and my due date passed and we waited. This time, we knew the 11th of January was coming and if we didn’t go into labor before then, we would meet our Millie that day. All Friday Bruce and I desperately tried to check off our to-do lists (including packing!) knowing that tomorrow would be the start of a new season. Both knowing and not knowing can be just as crazy emotionally!

I packed a lot less this time and more specifically. With a c-section again, we knew we would be there longer so we made sure to pack enough clothes for the three days. We brought slippers for walking around, my own nighty to move out of those hospital gowns, and outfits for Fresh 48 photos. We didn’t worry about extra outfits for baby as we did a lot of skin on skin and swaddling and we only brought our laptops (and a Bluetooth speaker) to entertain us.

This time I also had to pack Hilde a bag which was crazy. We filled hers with outfits and diapers and her sound machine. Things that 16-month-olds need when they spend time at their grandparents! Hilde spent the first days with Bruce’s parents and the last days with mine.

So without further adieu, here is what I packed this time! It is fun to compare it with what I packed last time!

This little turned one whole year this week! Figured I should wait for the official stats to include in our last monthly photo ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ 22.2 lbs and 30.3 inches tall. Not as big as her sister but still a pretty big baby. โ ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

According to tradition, we went out to breakfast (so thankful restaurants were open for indoor seating) and she ate as much as her big sis! โ

Current favorite word is book but she also says dada all day long. And the roars. She LOVES TO ROAR! โ ( other words: mama, ruff, and signs "all done")

In every effort to keep up with her favorite friend & sibling, she is already walking around like she owns the place and we just cannot even with her! SO MUCH LOVE! โ ๐Ÿ˜

This week has been a hard week and I just wanted t This week has been a hard week and I just wanted to remind you that no amount of instagram scrolling is going to soothe your heart. The headlines, inspirational quotes, and commentary only pales in comparison to Truth. "For theย wordย ofย Godย isย living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12) Go there. Read your Bible. Don't know where to start? Google a reading plan and open your Bible up. We need to be a people who hide the Word of the Lord in our hearts, who know Jesus Christ personally (who is the way, the Truth, and the life John 14: 6), and shine His light. The world needs hope, let's know it and let's share it!
