It’s official! I am in my 3rd trimester and 9 weeks (give or take) until meeting out little one. Here is the thing – I don’t know what I am doing. Haha! Being pregnant is a funny thing. So much of the work my body is doing all on it’s own! Now that I am in my third trimester, I am starting to make a list of all the things I’d like to do/ get done before baby! Here is my Third Trimester Prep List:
Schedule Maternity / Newborn Photos
I want all the photos! I think this is such a sweet season that goes by so fast! It is great that both Bruce and I are photographers because we get to capture a lot of things on our own but I also LOVE being in photos with my man. I want some Maternity pictures the two of us in beautiful Colorado, Fresh 48 photos at the hospital, and some newborn ones sometime after at home with our daughter!
Schedule Hospital Check- In & Birth Classes
I am starting to get nervous about birth. That’s normal right?! I really want to take a class so that I know a bit more what to expect. Also my hospital does a pre check-in thing and I think that would be super helpful for us both. Just even knowing where to go when I am actually in labor will be so helpful! haha. First timers over here!
Pack my Hospital Bag
My goal is to get this done by 35 weeks. Which is quickly approaching! Any tips on what needs to be included in this?! How big does my bag need to be? hahah. I am thinking of using a weekender bag. Or maybe just one of my diaper bags! We’ll see!
Make Freezer Meals
I got lots of recommendations to do this! I am already so bad at making dinners, I don’t know if I will actually be able to get this done. But maybe if I make it a goal and a plan I’ll actually do it! haha.
Buy a New Car
What the what?! So this wasn’t on our list but somehow within the last weeks got added. We are a one car family and the one car we have is pretty old. There are some updates we need to make on it but some of our discussions lately have lead us to thinking about getting a new car – specifically with a baby on the way. This is moving a bit faster than we imagined but are also feeling really right about it. So maybe before baby you’ll see a new car post! haha.
Install the Car Seat
I got some great advice from a fellow mama on this Instagram post about getting the car seat installed before you are rushing off to the hospital in labor! I think this is absolutely brilliant and will be aiming at getting that car seat installed around 36 weeks (or as soon as we have that car seat and the new car in our possession!) 😉
Go on a Babymoon
We’re heading out this weekend for a short overnight! I am so excited for this. We’ve done a lot of travel this pregnancy (and will still be going to Chicago) but we wanted an official “babymoon” to just spend quality time together!
Make a Plan for Maternity Leave
I am still trying to figure out what this looks like. I’ve been thinking about scheduling out posts – so I’ll need to start working on that to prepare! haha. But I’ll let you know what that looks like. One of the joys of being my own boss is being flexible in this area but working less on this space also means getting paid less. I don’t have a plan to chat over with HR before the baby comes! I love this job though and I wouldn’t trade it for the world! I’ll figure out something to not go completely MIA on you but I will be stepping back for a bit to learn how to mama! I’m also going to set up a Maternity Out of Office email to greet everyone who emails me during that time! While I still plan on replying to emails, I won’t be at the same rate that I am now!
Sell Stuff on Facebook Marketplace / Craigslist
We’ve been cleaning and moving and organizing and have gathered a lot of things we don’t need anymore. We’ve already taken multiple car loads to Goodwill but we’ve got some things that I think we can totally resell. Does anyone use Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist? For some reason I feel really weird using it ( I think I feel weird selling things!) but if you are all about it, I may be convinced! A little extra money for baby stuff wouldn’t be a bad thing! haha.
Install new flooring in main level
This is one of the big projects we have been wanting to do for years but wood flooring is expensive. Not that we have tons of money right now … haha… we just have more motivation! We’ve got a lot of house projects on our bigger list, but this one I really want before baby. We are running out of time for scheduling so I’ll probably need to act on this one sooner than later! lol.
Finish bedrooms (nursery & ours)
Guys! This is getting so close! We only have to add a hat wall to our bedroom (if you know my husband at all, you know he loves his hats!!) but after that we are all done with this space! I’ll get it photographed and shared on the blog soon. As far as the nursery goes, we are still working on things but making so much progress. I am also waiting for our baby showers before I go to crazy with buying things for that room!
Celebrate my Baby Showers with friends & family
Speaking of baby showers, I have two scheduled in July and I am so looking forward to them!! Both my sisters live out of town but are flying in for my shower! I am so excited to hug my sisters and be able to celebrate with them in this season! I never imagined being pregnant and not living near them but having them at my shower will mean the world! I’ve been so supported and loved by friends and family, I cannot wait to spend time showering our little girl!!
Write & Send Thank You Notes
I really want to be able to send out thank yous to all those who have been celebrating with us and being so generous! Both my showers are a little late, but I am hoping to still be able to find some fun Thank You cards and send them all out before baby comes! I know not everyone agrees on the importance of a Thank You card but whether or not they are expected etiquette, I still think they are really nice to receive. I am a huge fan of the snail mail so I love putting words to paper, licking envelopes, and finding fun stamps!
Wash & Put Away Everything
I’ve got a couple bottles of Dreft Newborn Baby Laundry Detergent to wash all those newborn clothes and I want to make sure everything is put away where it should go before baby. I just know it will help my sanity before & after baby is here. I don’t wash any of my stuff before I wear it (#confession), but I know babies are much more sensitive! I want to make sure our little girl is only going into clean things!
All you other mamas out there – am I missing anything? Not that I really need to add more to my list but if I am missing something important I will add!!
Sounds like there’s so many exciting things to do ahead! What a joyful time!
Oh wow! Getting ready for a baby doesn’t seem to far off from getting ready for a new school year! I definitely stock up on freezer meals for the first few months of school, haha. All that aside, sounds like you’re getting ready and totally rocking this!! So excited for you 🙂
Your pregnancy is flying by! I feel like just yesterday you were announcing it and now you’re already in your 3rd trimester. How exciting!
