If you haven’t already noticed, Oak + Oats recently got a face lift. Last week I somewhat silently revealed a new Oak + Oats. I didn’t feel the need to make a huge deal about it because so much of it is the same old me – just cleaner, brighter, and more organized. I can honestly say that I am thrilled (and gosh darn relived) to be revealing my new website design to you. I’ve been working on it for a good long while behind the scenes and I didn’t know if it would ever be done 😉 It not only feels great to be done, it feels so good to show off something I’m super proud of!
I am a dreamer. I love thinking up fun new projects. I often wish there was a short cut to my dreams & plans but there isn’t. Lately, I’ve been learning a lot about that. Learning to find joy in the process. Looking to find joy in the unseen and mundane. Not just with Oak + Oats, but also in my life.
March was a weird month. It was good but weird. So many things did not go as planned. I had to continue placing my identity in Christ and not my to-do list. My to-do list was failing in more ways than ever and I realized how fragile it really was – how some things are just out of my control. And how some things need to be worked on faithfully before they come to fruition.
This was Dream #1 and it reached fruition (YAY!!!!) I wanted to create a cohesive space – one that reflected Oak + Oats as one. Oak + Oats the blog, Oak + Oats the shop, and Oak + Oats the website. And I think we did it!
The next dreams are still to come – works in progress – and that’s okay! My friend Sam reminded me of this quote, “What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly…” And I couldn’t agree more. No one ever is an overnight success. Behind that “overnight” is years of dedication and work. If you can’t find joy in the journey, the end won’t ever be enough either. This is something I am always learning and coming back to.
I don’t know what dreams you have in your heart or the goals you are working toward. But I do know one thing, it is okay if it is a journey. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. Be faithful to your dreams and you’ll get there.
In a world of Veronica Salts, be a Charlie 😉
THINGS AROUND HERE TO NOTICE
- THE BLOG: The blog is still a huge part of Oak + Oats! It is the first tab and has a lot going on (you can see all our categories to the side) This is the same blog you have followed over the years just constantly refined and re-imagined! Blogging has been a passion of mine since I opened my blogger account in 2010. I love putting words on paper (or in this case screens) to convey thoughts, emotions, education, & information. This blog has been a safe place to be myself over the years. It has created a home for my passions, talents, gifts, inspiration, and ideas and it is never going away. The blog started it all.
- PHOTOGRAPHY: The middle tab holds the most exciting addition to this design – photography! I have always loved photos, cameras, and scrapbooks but I didn’t know how deep my love for lifestyle photography would actually be until the blog (see it all started there) brought it out of me. There is so much beauty in telling the stories of our days. The life changing moments like fresh 48 hospital photos, birthdays, and new homes. And also the everyday moments – like missing teeth, snack time, and the home you share with those you love. I am now offering photography sessions for those who live here in Colorado (or are passing through 😉 ) Lifestyle photos that capture YOU – your home, your family, the places you love, the little things you do, the new moments as a family of three (or four, or five..) Feel free to reach out for big events or just everyday memories. Photos are always worth it.
- LEARN & GROW: This is a new tab that I have added because everything I have learned over these last (almost 7?!!?) years of blogging I want to share with you. I believe with all my heart that a rising tide lifts all boats. I would not be where I am today without teachers, role models, friends, and encouragers – I want to be that for you. Passing on what I have learned so that you can grow & thrive in the gifts God has given you! Here you will find Blog Tips, E-Courses (coming soon… !!), and personal consultations! Make sure you check it out and also sign up for our Newsletter where I share even more!
- OUR SHOP!!! If you haven’t already checked out our shop – DO IT NOW 😉 We (yes, this is totally a Bruce & Elizabeth venture!) are so excited to be offering modern succulent & air plant planters that we design and 3D print right here in our house! You can also be on the newsletter for that so you get all the deals, launches, and behind the scenes!
Those are the biggest additions and things to notice! Feel free to always reach out and connect with us! We are so excited to continue growing & thriving and passing that on!
