My dear friends welcomed a daughter into the world a couple weeks ago and I was honored to be invited in to capture some sweet moments of this new family of three. The Fresh 48 is the first two days of a little ones life and usually most of that is in the hospital still. It is a really fun way to capture all the newness, joy, and memories while also being able to give everyone time to regroup (and shower) after labor. Being able to walk around the hospital room – taking pictures of armbands (even though Jenn hated the obnoxious color and amount of them), signs, and different sweet moments was a joy. I loved handing these photos over to the Russ family knowing that they will always be able to remember these sweet first moments.
Lifestyle photography is my favorite. I never thought I would grow up to be a professional photographer, but here I am taking pictures and getting paid for it. I learned photography because of this blog and in doing so, a huge passion for documenting life through pictures came about. I love how you can tell a story, evoke feelings, and capture authentic life. I take that approach to photography whenever I plan out new blog content – whether traveling or working on a home project. The pictures can tell the story. There are moments in life that you want to frame and hang up forever.
That is what inspires me. And that is what draws me to photography. It is the personal connection with a photo. A picture is worth a thousand words. Being able to move outside of my moments & days and into others is a thrill. I know not everyone carries around their camera 24-7 like I do these days so being able to use that passion to capture someone else’s life is a gift.
