We have been doing the Peaceful Preschool this year with both Hilde (age 4) and Millie (age 3). Since we are planning to continue to homeschool the kids as they get into elementary age, this has been a great for us to start to get into the rhythm of homeschooling! One of the things I love about the Peaceful Preschool is that it comes from a Biblical Worldview and many week Bible Stories are included in the curriculum. There are several ways that we study the Bible (and we have several Bibles and books we read with the girls) but we have been The Biggest Story Bible Storybook with our preschool curriculum because it fits so well. Today I wanted to show how it fits into our homeschool days and some of the additional recourses they have on their website!

We start by reading the story suggested in our curriculum in The Biggest Story Bible Storybook. We often read on our bed or cuddled together on the couch because everyone wants to be cozy and comfortable during story time and it is fun to move around the house doing school. On this day, we read the story of Isaac (Story 9: It’s a Boy!) as we were learning about the letter “I” in homeschool that week. With beautiful illustrations and an ending prayer, the story is engagingly told and engages conversation which we all enjoy.
Then we move to the homeschool table for some craft time. The Biggest Story has free printables that go along with each story. I printed the coloring sheet and ram craft on cardstock and had it ready for the girls after our story. They also include a Bible Verse with the printables so I wrote it up on the chalkboard for us to go over the rest of the week as we remembered the story of Isaac.
My girls love to paint so we used water colors on the coloring sheet which is why I printed it on cardstock! The coloring sheet was imagery from the Bible story so we continued recounting the story as we painted together. Next we colored, cut, and strung up the ram to wear as a necklace as a reminder of God’s provision. I let my three-year-old cut out her ram but she asked me to finish it. I try to give the girls as much freedom to create on their own while helping them as needed. Obviously, I could do a better job cutting out the shape of a ram than my four-year-old but when doing crafts with the girls, it is important for me to be there to help but also let them do the work!
As we continue along with the rest of the curriculum for the day and the rest of the week, we leave our art hung up on the chalkboard with the letter we are working on, other projects we have done, and the memory verse we are working on. It is a joy to so easily include God’s story into our daily learning and I’m grateful to the endless amount of resources we have these days as Christian parents! This book is a great tie-in with our preschool days and we all love it!
The Biggest Story Bible Storybook by Kevin DeYoung
5 Stars: This is a beautiful storybook Bible to read with your kids. I love the illustrations so much and enjoy the prose in which each story is written. The included prayer at the end of each story is also a wonderful way to connect with the Lord and reflect on what we read. The website (thebiggeststory.com) has free printables and resources to go with each chapter as well which is so helpful to continue the story and tie it in with a memory verse. This is a great resource that points our kids to God’s word and the stories he uses to reveal Himself to us!
