WaterColor Painting Holy Week

This week is Holy Week. I never took much notice to the week leading up to Easter (or the church calendar in general) until we started going to an Anglican church a couple years ago. We slowly fell in love with it while attending a non-denominational church with an Anglican pastor. We realized that some of our favorite things about the service came from the Anglican denomination and ended up at our current church home.

I know not every Anglican church is the same (just like any denomination and church) but I love the richness and symbolism in the services. The intentionality, the routines, the meaning. And I love the emphasis in the church holidays and calendar that help remind us of who God is. And I love Holy Week.

I’ve shared about Catechesis books before but we just love them! They have some of the best kids books and it is fun to bring the kids along in this journey with us. This year they shared some Coloring Pages of their Holy Week book (which is an emotions primer!) and so I bought them for a project with the girls this week.

One of the ways that I like to make coloring pages a bit more fun is by adding watercolors! Now you really have to plan well for this when you have two toddlers, but it is also so much fun! I get everything set up and then bring the girls over so that I can help with the painting and keep the water from soaking everything.

We read the verses & talked about the emotions, while I took pictures and tried to keep paint brushes from ending up in mouths (AKA Millie’s mouth!) ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was fast, fun, a little messy, but worth it. I’m finding that the more I say yes to moments like this with my girls, the more I enjoy motherhood.

I found these Easter dresses and bunny ears on buybuy BABY. I was going to give them to the girl’s in their Easter baskets but they found the package and I let them have it. I figured wearing bunny ears all week was more fun than just on Easter Sunday. Was it risky to let the girls paint in these new Spring dresses? Probably. But life is meant to be lived. And they were only $12!

So if you are wondering if you can paint with toddlers, try it out! You just might be surprised!

PS: I also got this Matching Egg Color/ Number Set that was in the box and they have been playing with it non stop! I’ll have to show you some stories of the girls because they cannot get enough of it!

Thank you buybuyBABY for sponsoring this post!
