A Mama's Prayer, Faith, Motherhood, Poetry, Spring

a Mother’s Prayer

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
In the middle of the night wakings, the bad dreams, the creaky floorboards.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
In the spilled cereal, sips of coffee, giggles down the hall.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
In the snuggles, the comfort food, the abundance.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
In the seasons of waiting, the gracious plenty, the commonplace.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
In the endless laundry, the open hearts, the emptying & renewing.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
In the broken hearts, the scrapped knees, the sibling spats.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
In the soup stirring, the table settings, the gathered children.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
In the handholding, the dream sharing, the heart binding.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
In the whispers, the moonlight shadows, the deep breaths of sleep.

Be ever with us Lord. For apart from you, we can do nothing.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Love it! As the Scripture says, “casting all your cares on Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
