If you read my last post, you would have seen that we are still planning on staying here with baby #2. I really can be a mixed bag of emotions about this one. While this house has been good to us, I also have a list of things I don’t love about it and I’m itching to move. We bought this house 7 years ago this summer. We didn’t plan on staying here for so long or having kids in it but here we are.
If you have been a reader of the blog since then, you have also seen this very room on the blog again and again. I’m always moving things around and trying to create a space that works for us in each season. When we first moved in, all the furniture in this room was free. We were newly weds who spent all their money on a down payment for a home and were thankful for all the free things we could get! Now seven years later I finally have pieces that I love in this space and also a little baby.
Room redos help me feel more content with the home the Lord has given me in this season. There are so many little things we did overtime to make this house feel more like us – a huge one being painting this fireplace! SOOOO glad we did that (thanks for all your help Blake & Sarah!) If you want to see the seven year journey of the living room, here you go! 2012 – 2013 – 2015 – 2018
Here is 2019 in all it’s glory. Bright, colorful, and baby. Before I had kids, I had no idea how much I would want a toy basket in each room. I don’t want to have to cart toys around my three story house (I already walk the stairs too much!) and I need something for Hilde to play with in every room or else I am stuck wherever the toys are. So while we childproofed our living room, we also added a couple toys that fit the decor as well. This makes mama and baby both happy.
I’m loving this custom woven piece by Kindred Looms above our couch! I think it brings in the best colors and style. I have historically had a hard time with filling this wall and this is perfect. I also printed a photo that Ashlee Kay Photography took of us to hang up. It is always fun to see photos in frames and not just on screens! Plus all the plants make me happy (I am having to hid them from baby!!) and I keep some of my favorite toys of hers down here with us!
This is my 2019 livingroom. It has changed a bunch and it will change again. Maybe one day we will get the hardwood floors we’ve dreamed about. Until then, I will be thankful that fireplace is no longer red brick!!
