Over the weekend Bruce and I drove an hour down the road to escape our city & our home for the weekend. Every now and then you need those little getaways to really revitalize the soul! Work has been a bit crazy for both of us and Bruce currently cannot take off too much time during the week (plus we are saving those vacation days for some bigger trips.) I really want to talk more about the Enneagram here because I’ve loved learning more about it! I’m a personality test junky – hahah. I just love how learning about you and others really helps you relate better to friends & family. One of the things we discovered while learning about the Enneagram is that Bruce & I both thrive on vacation. He is a 1 wing 9 and I am a 7 wing 6.  So when we are in stress – we both take on the negative sides of the 1 but when we are at rest we both take on the positive sides of the 7. So when we are at rest (aka vaca) we are both enthusiastic, easy going, calm, and essentially thriving 😉

So I think vacation is good for everyone, but it is really good for us. Since we love it, value it, and it is essential for our marriage – we make time for it (and save money for it!) My 30th birthday was Thursday and my first Mother’s Day was Sunday so we planned a quick overnight Saturday – Sunday to celebrate both! We stayed at the Royal Gorge Cabins and spent Saturday at the Royal Gorge! Our Sunday was slow and included sleeping in, making brunch, and seeing dinosaur footprints! This cabin was STUNNING and Bruce and I couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful it was. It was perfect for the two of us. We made dinner at the cabin and watched the sun set over the mountain range.

I picked out a couple items from the spring prAna line for my birthday. I know they don’t have maternity, but they have 100% organic cotton and implements a lot of fair trade and sustainability values! (here is a link to learn more) They also make their clothes pretty flowy & roomy. This dress fits very differently not pregnant (see) but it also totally works as a maternity outfit. I wore this while hiking around the Royal Gorge and all day Saturday! It is so light & comfortable! If you are looking for some travel style shopping, you can save 15% off prAna when you shop online!
