I had my first opportunity to capture a little mommy and me home session. It was my dear friend Mere and her little one (who is getting bigger each day!) While our husband’s worked on computers & fixing tables, we went upstairs to play with my camera & hopefully get some “instagramable home shots!” Haha! It was fun and totally different breaking out of the role as blogger and trying to rock the photographer role. You may remember back last summer I when I took pictures of Mere pregnant at an adorable little coffee shop, well, now little man is here and we thought it would be fun to capture some memories at this stage!
I would never consider myself a professional photographer, but I am realizing that this is a really fun role. To capture memories to share forever. It is why I started a blog and forced myself to learn how to use a camera. It is why I value lifestyle photography and bring my camera around everywhere I go. And it is why I say yes to home photo shoots for friends & am thankful for friends who let me practice on them! I don’t know if I have any desire to be a photographer in the professional sense (like booking clients), but I do know I really want to grow in my photography style! For Oak + Oats, for my memories, and for my friends & family!
John & Mere are dear friends of ours. We’ve been blessed to have them in our lives and I’m glad we got these pictures.
They turned out so lovely!! I especially love the upside down ones, they are so spontaneous and fun.
Love,
Yara
Thanks so much! I was kinda worried about it all because I am not a photographer per say but it was really fun to do!
Beth, is this your house?! It is beautiful!! These photos turned out so well. Congrats!
It is my friends house! She wanted to have some memories from her home!! I love the idea and it was so fun to do! And she has a really cute look going on in her home – she is an artist!
These are lovely pictures to have! Also, the Jimmy Fallon book, Dada, the best! Even as Mama, I say that.
