One of the best things about Spring is the blooms. Us Colorado locals dig out our shorts and start working on our gardens. Growing up my mom tended her garden all summer, getting excited about cultivating new life every Spring. Her birthday is in April and mother’s day is in May and the only thing she asks for every year is stuff for her garden. This weekend Bruce and I stopped by our local garden center to stroll though the greenhouses and pick out pretty flowers. We also dreamed about raised beds or hanging gardens for our porch (because we don’t have a yard of our own) to grow our own food this summer. We have to do a little mapping, planning, and researching, but we may step out into the gardening world this summer!
These midi boy shorts from American Eagle are my new favorites. They are ridiculously comfortable and I am loving the light wash/ distressed look these days! I just recently rediscovered AEO (I thought I outgrew their style) and I am obsessed with how their clothes fit me. I have to try not to stop by the mall every time I am up north 😉
Also I am swooning over these dreamy garden center pictures. We played around with some new photo ideas and editing styles. I think (I mean, I know!) I am really digging the light & airy look these days. I am really trying to figure out what my blogging photography style is and how I want to share these stories with you. Just three years ago I was only sharing photos from my phone and so sometimes I feel so lost when trying to be consistent with my photo style! It is all a work in progress but that is what I love about blogging – constantly being able to learn and grow!
What are some of your favorite weekend Springtime adventures?
These photos are so darling! We’ve been spending our days at nurseries and Home Depot’s garden center. Although we rent an apartment, our landlord is incredibly environmentally friendly and one of his initiative is raised garden beds in the front of our building. We plan to use a bed and also grow herbs in our window! So exciting!
Thank you so much Laura! You are wonderful! That would be so fun – what a cool opportunity!
What a beautiful space! You look so happy and free here (like we all should be in such a beautiful greenhouse!). So thrilled the blooms are finally returning to Chicago — it always breaks my heart to see the trees so bare in winter!

You are just so cute! I love that necklace and this beautiful garden center!
Thanks so much Daisy! You are so sweet!
I love your necklace (and not even just because it’s called wanderer 🙂 )! Our spring adventures included a trip to the beach last weekend. The weather was perfect, the crowds were non-existent, and we immediately decided we need to make a beach trip happen this time of year every year.
That really is perfect! Hahah!
Lovely photos! I enjoy sitting outside at a cafe or coffee shop. I also get motivated to run outside in the spring.
Thank you so much Marla! I love sitting outside the moment I can!
These photos are so pretty! This looks like such a beautiful garden center!
Thanks!
This outfit is so cute, and I love the location for your photo shoot, too! Loose, comfy clothes like this are perfect for warmer weather.
Thanks so much! I love clothes like this these days!
Beautiful photos! Has me itching to get out into the garden. Maybe I’ll just take a short break….
Gorgeous colors! Bright and airy- I love these!
