I’ve lost count of how many Stitch Fix boxes that I have opened, but my last box turned out this top and it is beautiful. It was instantly brought into my capsule wardrobe. I have shared about it a bit here before but Stitch Fix is a great way to help you build a capsule wardrobe!
I am very picky these days about what I let into my closet. There was a long time of my life that I was not that way and I wasted a lot of money on clothing I never wore. My closet rules are as follows:
1. I LOVE IT
2. IT FILLS A VOID
These two rules are so important to me because for a long time my only rule was “IS CHEAP” and I ended up buying a lot of cheap crap that I didn’t love or need. I wasted money buying a shirt with a weird fit that I never wore, pants that were too lose/too tight, and dresses that I could only wear certain ways. When you look at your closet, finding an outfit should be easy. It should only have clothes that you feel confident in and those clothes should make outfits. It is simple really but also weirdly hard to do.
That is where Stitch Fix comes in. My personal stylist reads my notes (which is where I talk about the things in my closet that I am missing that would help me complete outfits) and then they send me a box! If this is your first (or more but you still are confused) time hearing about Stitch Fix, you need you read this post on all the gooey details! It is really one of my favorite services and I am sure I will continue using it forever because it is just that amazing. I just want to dispel a quick myth, Stitch Fix can be monthly but does not need to be. I do not get monthly boxes, so no need to fret about an excess of clothes entering your closet!
When I open my box, I try on everything, keep what I LOVE (read: I have no gripes about it and it fits me perfectly.), and I send the rest back for free! With this last box, I had a list of some things that my closet is missing with a huge emphasis on work appropriate but functional pieces! This top was interesting but I put it on and couldn’t take it off – seriously. I wore it on our date the very next day. Just what I needed – totally work-y and real life-y!
Best news, when you get your box it not only comes with new clothes, but also ways to wear them! I love and collect the cards that Stitch Fix sends each month! It helps you see how you can mix and match and plan outfits! It will also show you what type of item you might be missing (like if every card includes a pencil skirt or skinny jeans)

Oh, and there is my sexy date man! He is the man behind the camera of all my “photo shoot” posts and his name is Bruce. Like the shark in Finding Nemo.
WHAT ARE YOUR SHOPPING RULES?
Aww that top is PERFECT. That's definitely something I'd purchase if we had Stitch Fix here in the Philippines. Re: shopping rules, I don't really have any (right now) because I received (not bought) over 90% of my closet. Most of my clothes come from cousins in the States 🙂 I am, however, in the process of experimenting with a capsule wardrobe. So I guess the rules I set for myself would be to buy what I need, buy something long-lasting even if it may be a bit pricey. I also need to make sure the piece would be versatile enough.

You look like such a down to earth soul, Elizabeth. Always a joy to visit your blog.
You are the most adorable. Tell Bruce he did a great job on the pictures! 🙂
I love that shirt. It is different and unique and looks really good on you!
My obsession for your ONA bag is out of control. Also, that top looks amazing on you–per usual!
that's a great rule! I recently read a post about a girl who only buys something if she can think of four outfits to match it with already in her closet. It's a good way to avoid buying those random pieces we never end up wearing!
Oh and PS the detail on the shirt is beautiful!
I just got my second Stitch Fix box yesterday, and loved everything in it! I hope that doesn't happen every time, or this could get expensive! Very cute top, it looks great on you.
What a fun stitch fix top that they sent you this time!
Yes, I agree your ONA bag is adorable!
I'll let him know! He will be proud. The lighting that day was crazy hard to work with!
I know! I love it!
Oh! That is so wonderful! Thank you! and you can also just start spacing your boxes out a little more 😉
