I am a huge fan of local gems and beautiful brick walls. That is one of the reasons I am so in love with this place. Ivy Wild is an old elementary school built in 1916 in Colorado Springs that had to close it’s doors in 2009. It then was brought back to life as a brewery, coffee shop, bakery, and meat locker came together to create a space for community in the community. So much community and you know that I am all about that!
I have spent mornings working on the blog, unforgettable conversations with friends over coffee, beers to celebrate babies and birthdays, lunch dates with my man, and summer sun out of the porches.
You have seen a bit of this place here before – remember my birthday pictures with a cupcake from Old School Bakery? Or the pictures with my Ekata Designs Handmade Bracelet? This place is one that I find myself at all the time – they have lots of wall plugs, great coffee, and beer! (what more do you need?)
Today I was brave and asked my barista at The Principal’s Office if I could snap some pictures of his pour over skills – mmm… it brings me back to the days when I worked at Pour Jon’s! Did you know that I used to work at a coffee shop? I did and now the complimentary burnt coffee at church is harder to swallow.
If you are ever passing through Colorado Springs, I hope you find yourself here for a morning, afternoon, or evening! I promise, you won’t regret it.

This is so cool! I haven't found a place like this in Burbank, but there may be one. I love that I don't see tons of people there while you are there. If I were to find one here it would probably be packed with people. I have been wanting to do a shoot at a coffee house, but finding one that isn't crazy will probably be tough. When I was in Joplin there was a coffee house kind of like this which was so fun!
I LOVE places like this! I will say, Charleston has some pretty spectacular local coffee shops, bakeries, flower shops, etc.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the brick walls in there (and all the wood!)
Being so close to Portland–our coffee culture is strong… and I LOVE it! I was just talking to my husband about the culture of coffee shops and "going to coffee" and how I'm just drawn to so many things about it. He doesn't get it… but that's ok. 🙂
Ohh we passed through Colorado Springs during our roadtrip from Arizona to Colorado. I'll definitely keep this place in mind for next time! My husband's a bit of a coffee snob :p
It would be a fun one to hit up as you drive through!
Yes! I love it all!
Me too! It is so fun because it was an old elementary school!
There is always the Buy More (Where Chuck works)
I worked at one in college very similar!
Thanks Laura! I am stretching myself!
