I am a huge fan of local gems and beautiful brick walls. That is one of the reasons I am so in love with this place. Ivy Wild is an old elementary school built in 1916 in Colorado Springs that had to close it’s doors in 2009. It then was brought back to life as a brewery, coffee shop, bakery, and meat locker came together to create a space for community in the community. So much community and you know that I am all about that!
I have spent mornings working on the blog, unforgettable conversations with friends over coffee, beers to celebrate babies and birthdays, lunch dates with my man, and summer sun out of the porches.
You have seen a bit of this place here before – remember my birthday pictures with a cupcake from Old School Bakery? Or the pictures with my Ekata Designs Handmade Bracelet? This place is one that I find myself at all the time – they have lots of wall plugs, great coffee, and beer! (what more do you need?)
Today I was brave and asked my barista at The Principal’s Office if I could snap some pictures of his pour over skills – mmm… it brings me back to the days when I worked at Pour Jon’s! Did you know that I used to work at a coffee shop? I did and now the complimentary burnt coffee at church is harder to swallow.
If you are ever passing through Colorado Springs, I hope you find yourself here for a morning, afternoon, or evening! I promise, you won’t regret it.

Such beautiful pics! That place looks so lovely – it's always fun when places have so much character!
Great pictures, beth!! Love the ones of mr. man making coffee. Good job!
That place sounds and looks incredible! I'm so jealous because I thought Pittsburgh had cool coffee shops and then you come in with a bakery, coffee house, brewery combo? Sold!
You are a brave one Beth! I admire you stepping out and asking to take pictures, they turned out AWESOME.
This place looks incredible! I wish I was closer so I could check it out.
Love these pics! There's a breakfast place that I absolutely love going to a few minutes away from my house, but I haven't been in months! This post just inspired me to head over there again 🙂
That coffee shop looks INCREDIBLE! I wish we knew of it in our time in Colorado Springs! What beautiful brick walls, wooden floors, and that Barista looks like a man of knowledge and concentration, bet that was a great cup of joe! Beautiful photos! Pour over coffee is one of our ABSOLUTE favorites and what inspired us to build our own Coffee Pour Over Station listing on our website! Such a unique smooth flavor in such a classy old fashion way! Thanks for sharing, what neat history!
This place looks awesome! I really wish there were more local coffee spots like this in my area. We have a couple, but they are a bit of a drive for me.
I LOVE coffee shops with a community-minded atmosphere. When I was in college, there was an old house right next to campus that was converted into a coffee shop. They had the perfect porch/deck for acoustic concerts on fall nights complete with christmas lights for mood lighting. Not only was their coffee the best in town (hello freshly ground espresso) but they were a non-profit working with organizations offering aid and medical care in Africa. Knowing that my daily coffee (or two) was also helping benefit someone else made it an easy choice to keep going back for more.
How cool!!! We have a place very similar to this in Portland – and old school that's now a hotel, restaurant, cigar room, pub, and movie theater! It's so fun to go visit!
