Motherhood May

It’s May again: My Birthday, Mother’s Day, Springtime, and the Walk for Life! Ever since the May I turned 30 and held a bursting baby bump in my hands, the month of May has felt different. It is no longer a month just for me and my birth, but a month of Motherhood and new beginnings. In May, we plant the seeds in our garden and shout for joy when we see the first bit of green burst through the dirt. In May, the school year ends and those baby bumps of mine move up to the next grade – I officially have a 2nd Grader and a Kindergartener on my hands! In May, my cheeks hurt from laughing as I plant flowers with my children as our outfits are soaked from the spray attachment on the hose that doesn’t quite work right. In May, I get homemade cards from my children and I cry while I read them. And, since we are Anglican, in May, we are still celebrating Eastertide and the new life we find in Christ! It simply is a Motherhood May.

Which also makes it so fitting to spend this month fundraising for Life Network’s 2025 Walk for Life. My first Walk for Life was in 2012 when I started working at Life Network – a local pregnancy center in Colorado Springs. And now, even though I stopped working there in 2016, we continue to be involved in this ministry and fundraise for the Walk for Life each year!

There is a lot going on politically in regards to abortion and many states are taking different stances in that arena. Colorado being one to adopt some extreme abortion laws in an attempt to create a “sanctuary” state. However, we know a true sanctuary is not one of corrosion and death but one of life, hope, help, and love. And so even in the middle of Colorado, Life Network stands as a sanctuary for the women (and men) who are looking for direction and help in a hard and confusing time.

They educate on the reality of abortion as well as adoption and parenting – injecting hope into what feels like a hopeless situation for so many of these mothers (and fathers). They provide free pregnancy ultrasounds which dramatically impact a mother’s choice to choose life as well as free pregnancy testing, STD testing & treatment, community and medical referrals, Abortion Pill Reversal treatment, emergency material needs like diapers and formula, parenting education & classes, mentoring, clinical counseling, and so much more.

Life Network remains a faithful stronghold in our city of light & hope – year after year, no matter what legislation may pass in Colorado or in our country. If you don’t personally know the work that is going on at Life Network, I encourage you to read their website, look at all of the free services they offer, see how much they care, talk with staff and volunteers, and pray for the work they are doing. It is Kingdom work!

Every year I raise money for the Walk for Life with Life Network and historically I raise OVER $1000. This year the girls both wanted to create their own fundraising page so that they can get their own t-shirts and help be a part of something bigger than themselves! Would you join us in raising money for Life Network so that they can continue providing FREE and life-changing services to our community? Let’s blow their goals out of the water and show them what can happen when people come together!

“I need to raise money so that all the babies can get everything they need including toys and  tiny, cute clothes. I also want to help moms because moms need babies to make families and then the babies grow up and have kids and then they can be grandmas just like my grandma!” Hilde (Age 6)

“I want to help raise money for Life Network because I love to hold babies! And I want them to have all the clothes and diapers and toys and blankets and bottles they need! I am trying to raise $150 so that I get a t-shirt of my own like Hilde.” – Millie (Age 5)
