2025 Christmas Cards

And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” – Revelation 21:5

After eight years of attending a liturgical church, this is the first year that we, as a family, are truly pushing into the Advent season (a lot of it by learning, trying out new traditions as we go, and making a better plan for next year 😉 ). Advent means “coming” and it marks both the beginning and the end of the church calendar. The New Year begins with the first Sunday of Advent and we begin with waiting. It is a slow, hopeful longing as we join with all creation throughout all history to look forward to God’s salvation coming through his Son Jesus Christ – “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)

But Advent is more than anticipating Christ’s birth! As Christians we believe in not just one coming of Christ – as a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths – but three comings: Adventus Redemptionis meaning the coming of redemption, Adventus Glorificamus which is the coming in glory during the end times, and Adventus Sanctificationis as His coming of holiness to us now through the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word.

Bruce and I collected several resources to help us learn about this season and one of them was the book Advent: The Season of Hope, which is part of a larger series of books on the church calendar. Guys, it is so good! If you are interested in learning about the historical contexts and the why behind Advent, this is your book! One of the things the author repeated was the phrase, “The King is coming! Get ready!” The purple colors of Advent represent both royalty and repentance because the King is coming! We must be like the faithful servant who is ready for his master to return at any given hour (Matthew 24:45-51). The call is to get right with God because we don’t know when we will return and we look forward with joy to that day!

And now all this is a long transition into the Bible Verse we chose to include with our Christmas cards this year! Praying over and including a Bible Verse with our Christmas Cards is a tradition we started in 2020 (for obvious reasons), and we now enjoy continuing in! The verse acts not only as our proclamation for this Christmas season, but our prayer for the new year. And as we, the Mayberrys, sit here in Advent, we look forward to Christ’s promise that “Behold, He is making all things new!” He came unto us fully God and fully man. He is here with us now – always working and redeeming. And He will come again in Glory to judge the living and the dead and His Kingdom will have no end.

Oh friends! These words are trustworthy and true! May we long for Christ to come to us – as he did, as he is, and as he will be! May we hope with joyful expectancy for him to make all things new!

This year we went with Artifact Uprising again for our Christmas Cards. They are simply one of my favorite photo related brands that I have discovered (and stuck with) over the years. Every year I try to pick a card that feels like us, while also not being the same one we have done before. I love how the Classic Frame Christmas Card came out with our photos from this year and our verse sticker! We keep a card each year for ourselves and display them all lined up in a row so that we can see how our family has grown and look back on Christmases past! (PS: That is my big Christmas Card tip! Keep one for yourselves!)

Last year we chose to include a sticker instead of just a note card with a verse on it because stickers are awesome (right?!?) We continued that this year – it is like a little gift inside each card! You can actually shop our designs on my Sticker Mule Storefront if you like what I made or you can make your own design a sticker!

And while I was adding our Christmas Cards to my cart, I couldn’t help but add a Pressed Glass Photo Ornament with our family photo this year. It makes me want to go back and add our Christmas card photo from each year – it is the perfect pop of Joy!

I always order my cards early, but it is not too late to order yours! Head over to Artifact Uprising now and see what card fits your family this year! Merry Christmas! Or should I say, “Happy Advent! – The King is coming!”
