Red, White, & Bluey

Happy 4th of July! My family and I set out to our favorite place to celebrate America’s birthday! Rock Ledge Ranch throws a Family Fourth celebration every year and it has been our tradition the last couple summers for us to attend. There is just something that feels so American about being at a beautiful historic “old west” location, listening to a big brass band play John Philip Sousa and sitting in the grass eating watermelon while Abraham Lincoln gives a speech!

Like always, we started at Rudy’s for breakfast tacos. While Rudy’s is a Texas chain BBQ joint, it feels so quintessential Colorado Springs! Located right in the middle of tourist central, it is PACKED all summer long and ALWAYS smells good.

I am sure by this point you have also noticed the kids Red, White, and Bluey shirts! I just couldn’t help but order them when I saw them on Etsy this year! As I always say, there is nothing quite as American as an Australian kids show 😉 But really, my kids say “Trifficult,” “Okay Dude,” “Sunnies,” “Cheecky,” “Holiday,” “Petrol,” “Bush Wee,” and “Kindy” now like the rest of their generation who watches the same Australian show!

A bike parade, a hay ride, a bottle of old timers root beer, and a photoshoot by your 5-year-old – what a celebration of the country we are blessed to call home! America – Land of the free, home of the brave!
