New year, who dis? Hello there and welcome to our New Year’s Day party! I am convinced this is the best way to celebrate this milestone with little kids. What parent already operating on little sleep wants to say up until Midnight (!?!?), let alone 10 pm to watch the ball drop on the east coast? Both of those with or without the kids! I’ll tell you who, not these guys! All 10 of us were in bed as the new year came into being. The fireworks and a couple cries from my youngest may have woken me as the clock struck twelve, but I simply just rolled over and dozed back off to sleep.
The next morning we took advantage of the day off work and drove up to our friend’s new mountain home with a bag of new year’s goodies I found at Target while Christmas shopping. We lunched together, played together, sat around on the couch together, and decorated for the New Year. We also, somehow, got everyone excited (and looking at the camera) for a group photo with the self timer!
Old me would have spent more time in this blog post formulating how to have a day time New Year’s Party, linking the products, and making sure to use catchy terms that would help it perform well on Pinterest and Google searches. New me says, there really isn’t much to say 😉 Get the decorations (I got mine at Target) and noise makers, fun snacks and crazy people, and celebrate New Years Day instead of New Year’s Eve! It’s the same thing but without cranky kids who stayed up too late. And it is just that simple.
Old me would have also stressed about having my Hello 2024 and Goodbye 2023 up asap (as well as all Christmas!) but (as you have seen) new me just doesn’t care. I feel like this blog operates on a before quitting Instagram (BQI) and after quitting Instagram (AQI) timeline 😉 Although, now that I consider it, there is also a section at the very beginning of my blog that includes posts from before my Influencer days which is also a marked changed in formatting, writing, and photography. It may be more accurate to mark the 14+ years of blogging here as: “Pre Influencer,” “Influencer,” “Post Influencer!” HAHA!
Now I am just an old (ish!) mom blogger who blogs when she has a babysitter and (some) brain power. I’m currently spending some time in my quiet times reflecting on 2023 and the millions of scattered moments that have made up our year and looking back at what God did this year (not necessarily “me”). It will take time for those posts to formulate and happen as they require much more thought and mulling over. My goal is to get those up in January!
Until then and just for now – let’s make New Year’s Day parties happen, they can totally happen! 😉
