Thank you buybuy BABY for sponsoring this post!
Growing up I was always so excited to take the boxes out of the garage for Christmas. I knew they were filled with toys, books, decorations, mugs, puzzles, and crafts we only got for the Christmas season. My mom would put away the toys and books in the family room and replace them with these special Christmas toys. They were the same every year (maybe growing by one or two things) but they were so deeply special because we only got to play with them for 5 weeks out of the year.
My mom has since started dividing up that stash and giving it to her kids who are now having kids of their own. We have a Christmas Woody doll that I was given back when Toy Story 2 came out, a gingerbread doll that has bells inside, and a nativity set that can survive toddlers. We had them last year but it wasn’t until this year that Hilde lit up when I started putting out the new toys!
L ast year I started collecting Christmas books and this year I added a couple more toys to the mix. I figure each year we will add a bit more (just like my mama did) so that our little Christmas nook can be filled with special toys that only come out once a year!
This Melissa and Doug Slice & Bake Christmas Cookie Set ($20) has been a huge hit this year and this Babyletto Tally Bookshelf ($230) has been the perfect place to store all our Christmas toys in our living room! And while this home still has some projects (like hello no baseboards…), it is so great for our family. Hilde loves all the moving, playing, and running room our new house has to offer! While imperfect, we are SO HAPPY to be spending the holidays in our new home!
PS: If you are anything like me and still doing some Christmas shopping, buybuy BABY has a great selection of Christmas and non Christmas toys for kids! We got all Hilde’s Christmas gifts there this year!
