This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment , but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #DowntonAbbeyAtWalmart http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV
Downton Abbey is back! My bff Megan and I have been watching Downton Abbey together through the years. We started when we were long distance (which I forget all the time now that she lives here!!) and we would have long text conversations over each episode! Then she moved to Colorado (YAY) and we would make plans to watch the new seasons together when they came out.
When the movie trailer came out, we oohed and awed over the nostalgic music and all the cast coming back. Try as we might, we were not able to get our schedules lined up enough to see it together in theaters (we both had CRAZY falls.. like the season, not the injury) so we patiently waited for the DVD release.
Good news for us (and for you too) it is now out and you can pick the Downton Abbey DVD up at Walmart (in stores and online)! While I was out grabbing groceries and other random things we need in our new house, I picked up a copy to gift Megan for Christmas! But I didn’t just want to give it to her, I wanted to give it to her and also watch it together because that’s our thing! So I cleared my schedule and we planned a girls night (full disclosure, it was actually a Saturday morning because that works better with work schedules and husbands and babies! lol. But “Girls Morning” doesn’t have the same ring to it!) I gave her the gift and we popped it into the blu-ray player.
No spoilers of course, but all the characters that we know and love are back together for a fun 2 hours expanding on the TV series! It could be enough for a whole new season (which I wouldn’t have complained one bit about) but the movie is also just right and too fun. I’m always so captivated and drawn into the time period. There is something about using film to experience different times, places, and cultures. While I don’t know what it is like to be upstairs or downstairs of a great house, I can relate to the emotions and realities that they face. We’re all human after all! Plus who doesn’t love imagining how other people lived back when?!!?
It’s been nearly a decade since Downton Abbey first came out and life looks so different for both Megan and I than it did back then, but we still value those memories and our friendship. It was fun to spend a Girl’s Morning ( 😉 ) escaping our responsibilities and feeling like college girls again. Make sure you take the time to nurture those relationships because life happens and the years pass by so quickly. And also head to Walmart and purchase the new release of Downton Abbey DVD today – it make a great stocking stuffer or gift wrapped under the tree!
PS: We felt a little bit like cheaters for drinking coffee while we watched the movie but we couldn’t help ourselves, it was Saturday morning and we are not British! lol!
