It has been three years since my last volume of “Coffee Date” but something in me wanted to pick it back up again. I’m in a super fun season of blogging where I find myself looping back to the beginning but with all the knowledge I learned along the way. Just like how the 90’s are making a comeback – a little wiser but still the same ol’ 90’s.
I’ve been reflecting on this “freedom” to blog in my own time and in my own way and it really comes down to Hilde. In so many ways she has changed me. The way I live, the way I work, the way I love. I don’t have time to be the super organized 3-5 posts a week old me when I am taking care of a little human. I don’t have time to stress around getting posts up in time or feel guilty for not getting photos edited for Instagram. Stressing won’t get them done faster. And stressed is not something I want to define me.
All that to say, why not bring back the coffee dates with my random heart-to hearts from my old days of blogging if I want to?!
Hilde and I took these photos while we were out to coffee with a friend. Through Tuesdays Together I have met so many other local creative bloggers, photographers, and entrepreneurs and it is rocking my world! When you work for yourself by yourself at home, it is SO nice to find “coworkers” who speak your same language and want to learn about SEO with you! They also don’t blink an eye when you ask about taking photos in the coffee shop!
I’ve enjoyed mixing motherhood with work. It doesn’t have to be so black and white or separated. Bringing her along for meetings, including her in content, and doing Instagram stories with her on my lap is not only convenient but fun!
I also have no idea what I filled a bag with before I had a baby. Seriously. If I ever leave the house without Hilde, I just throw my wallet, my keys, and my phone into my pockets. I remember carrying a bag around PB (pre baby) but the contents of said bag are a blur. Now when I leave the house I have a mental checklist of all the things that need to be in my diaper bag – diapers, wipes, changing mat, hand sanitizer, extra outfit, toys, snacks, spare pacifier, nursing cover.
I love my Lily Jade Diaper Bag for that very reason. It has all the pockets to keep things organize and to keep the teething wafers Hilde loves so much whole (and not smashed into a million pieces. lol) It is made with beautiful full grain leather to look stylish and put together, but it is also made to be practical! The inside liner that comes with the bag has twelve pockets and is machine washable ( one thing I am finding is a necessity with baby items!) Before I was a mom, I didn’t really think you would need a diaper bag. I figured any old purse would work and besides that, what could a little baby reallllly need. Oh boy was I naive 😉
Speaking of babies, you know what is one thing I haven’t done since I had a baby?! A “style” post. It isn’t a body image issue or anything like that – it is just because I am always holding a baby. Style posts used to be fun content to create and share but now there is so much other content that is fun to create and share! And with a baby, even less time to share it all 😉 I know, so random. But I was just thinking about it.
I’m also thinking about how tired I am. I thought it would be cozy to bring my laptop in bed with me so that I could write and edit photos but it is 9:00 pm and my eyes are so heavy. Seriously debating on just putting this laptop away, brushing my teeth, and calling it a night. Such a mom move but I guess I am one of those now so I can do things like that!! Haha.
Thanks for joining me on this somewhat sporadic coffee date. Let’s talk again soon.
Love seeing this post again Beth! <3
It's good to check in and see what's happening in your life. PS - You're the cutest!
That really is a great diaper bag! It doesn’t even look like one!
