Hi! I am Elizabeth, and I have been paying for Photoshop for 5 years and have never used it. 2019 is the time to change that, don’t you think? I use Lightroom daily to edit photos for my blog and Instagram. I even have the app to edit my phone photos on the go, but I have been too intimidated to learn how to use Photoshop. People who use Photoshop went to art school and took classes on Graphic Design, right??!! Haha. But since I pay for them both as a package, I thought I should step out of my comfort zone and learn something new!
When I discovered Udemy Online Courses, I knew it was the time to learn Photoshop! While I love my photography to stay authentic and true to reality, I also love fun and whimsical photos. Now that I have a daughter, the idea of adding some “magic” to a photo is appealing! I just want to be able to have the freedom to have fun with a photo every now and then! With Udemy’s wide variety of courses and great price for the value, it was an easy decision to make. I found a class on Photoshop (there were tons to choose from) using the help of past students’ ratings and started learning!
The best part about taking a class for fun and not for school is that I can go at my own pace. With a 3-month-old, my time isn’t always constant—sometimes I can get out to a coffee shop and other times I get five minutes in on my couch! But either way, I can pick up right where I left off!
I’ll be honest, it is really fun to learn a new skill! I learned how to add snow to a photo, and I have been showing it off to anyone who even pretends to be interested! I have to stop myself from adding snow to all the things! See what I mean:

I just love it! I also love Hilde’s little body flying through the air as well! Haha.
It’s been years, 8 to be exact, since I graduated college (OMG, trying not to freak out about that realization!) so it has been fun to take a course to learn a new thing! Udemy doesn’t only have Photoshop classes; they have all kinds of courses on anything you could imagine, from coding to yoga! After I finish this one, I may delve into more photography courses to up my game or I might try out a coding class! That is one thing I kind of wish I learned in college. It would be so nice to maintain my blog in that way! If you are anything like me, there will be more than one course you will want to take—and you should! You don’t have to do them all at once, but what if you made it your goal for 2019 to always be learning? I think that would be pretty darn fun!
Check out Udemy to see what they offer and what you would like to learn! I bet you there is something there for you as well! This New Year’s they are offering high-value professional courses now as low as $9.99!
I’ve used Udemy for a course before but never for Photoshop! I’ve been looking at a Skillshare subscription but wondering which service is better. Can you share what specific course you used for Photoshop?
Yes! There are so many! What I like about Udemy is that you can just pay per class and take your time before you move onto the next one. Where subscription based, you feel like you need to take a lot of classes to make your money worth it! I did the Adobe Photoshop CC – Essentials Training Course. I needed one for beginners! haha!
Love it! You are going to have a lot of fun with your photos!
