Goodnight, Sleep Tight

When you are pregnant there are so many things you learn, hear, and read as you try to figure out what products to get and how to parent a newborn. And in talking with other mamas, it is not just for the first baby! We knew we wanted a bassinet in our bedroom for the first couple weeks/ months as we figured out parenting and nursed all through the night! haha. The HALO Bassinest was one of my favorites because it swiveled and we ended up going with it!

October is SIDS Awareness Month. UGH. I honestly hate thinking about this. I don’t know how many times that I have checked to make sure Hilde was still breathing while she was sleeping. It is a fear and an anxiety that I am constantly bringing to the Lord (Phil 4:6 is my go to verse for this) SIDS is truly heartbreaking and it is important to know the simple safe sleep practices that reduce the chances of SIDS. Placing babies to sleep on their backs, having nothing else in crib, swaddles that Velcro (preventing loose fabric from riding up), and not sharing the same sleeping space with your baby. What I love about this bassinet (and the HALO sleepsack swaddle) is that it helps us check all those things off. When we first brought her home from the hospital, we were able to keep her with us in our room and I would swivel her bassinet to be on the bed so she was laying next to me. I’m pretty sure that helped us both sleep better/ helped me stare at her sweet little baby face while I should have been sleeping.

Now she has moved into her crib full time as she sleeps through the nights but I am glad we took these pictures to document the time. I loved having her so close and having her in her own room makes me feel like she is growing up too quickly. She still is sleeping in these amazing sleepsacks we just upgraded to size smalls! They are also hip healthy (remember her hip dysplasia diagnosis?) so that is hugely important to us as well!

I am loving sharing our stories and the products we love with you. We are just figuring it out as we go but loving sharing our experience with you! And you already know this because I say it all the time, but feel free to ask any question you may have and we will try to answer it! PS: Her pacifier is bibs and we love it – these pacifiers are the only ones she takes!

Literally got up in the middle of reading this to check on Des in his Bassinest and make sure he’s still breathing, haha! The SIDS fears are so real! I still need to get one of these swaddles.

Yeah! It is hard not to check all the time. And these swaddles are great!
