I’ll be honest, Monday mornings are significantly less sad for me than when I used to work in an office. I can sleep in or take things slow if I need to. BUT I also always have a massive pile of emails Monday morning and a new week of work ahead of me. I can easily find myself chanting one more Saturday” at the end of the day. Just one more day to finish the laundry and take that hike. One more day that my husband and I don’t have to hang out in the office. One more day for adventure and one more day for rest.

These photos are from Rudy’s on a normal weekend outing. I wear t-shirts & Chacos most days and hang out with Bruce. We eat at Rudy’s because it is close to our house and it’s super affordable. We’ve got our order down as do many of the employees 😉 I’ve always grown up in a pretty big town – so many places and so many people. We don’t have a tv show diner where everyone knows everyone. But guys. This is our place. We know the employees, the managers. We know their names and what college they attend. We hear about their awkward blind dates and the internships they apply for. It’s incredible really. It feels like home.

Not only have we received free food out of it once or twice (YAY!) , but we also have received friendship. We love that employees yell “Bruce and Beth!” when we come in or tell the new kid we’ve never been in so he starts explaining how it works. What a weird and random way to find ourselves loving our neighbors, but I’ll tell you what, our brand loyalty is STRONG because of it. And if you are wondering how much we go… it is at least twice a week. Normally a lunch during the week and a dinner on the weekend.

So maybe the point of this post is to find your place. The post office you drop packages off daily, your office, your child’s school, the park you take your two year old to run around. Wherever you find yourself often, say hi to those people. Ask their names, hear their stories. At first we only had as long as it took us to order, but now they come up to our table or stand with us in line. WE all crave connection. This doesn’t have to be deep and they don’t have to be your new best friend, but just you being kind and intentional will go along way. The world needs a little more kindness.

… and BBQ 😉

Oh I love this! Of course we need more Saturdays, but more importantly we need places that make us feel so welcome. In our little town, there is a coffee shop that I go to regularly and I love when the gals there have my order ready for me or ask if I want the usual. It definitely gives you a wonderful feeling!

I love it! Lazy and slow Saturdays are our favorite – especially the farmers market in Old Colorado City, maybe checking out a new brewery, and just hanging out. Oh and some BBQ 😉

I have always said that it feels like I’ve officially “moved” when someone recognized me out somewhere!

Although every time you post about Rudy’s I think about Front Range BBQ – because I loved their BBQ just as much. If only they sold breakfast burritos too….

This is the best! Being regulars at a place and knowing everyone’s names is a real joy, and one that most people unfortunately avoid. And such a good way to love on everyday people in your everyday encounters!

Totally! I think just so many of us come from big cities so we don’t realized what it is like to be a “regular” at a place because we are going to so many places!
