The entering of a new season in life is always monumental but so is leaving one. I was chatting with Bruce in the car and laughing as we have no idea how we have arrived at the end of our twenties. I am 29 today. It is my last year ever as a twenty-something and that feels pretty darn monumental. Normally every birthday I take the time to look back on the last year and look forward to what the next year holds but this one is making me feel like I need to take a good look at my twenties and figure out how I want to finish them off 😉

I saw Megan of the Fresh Exchange share a round up of her years in her twenties and I wanted to do something similar. I present to you Elizabeth the twenty something:

Awe, ain’t I cute 😉 It is so funny because it took me way to long to come up with these photos. Before my blog I have no idea how I chronicled my life. I also never was in a photo by myself – child of the 90’s disposable cameras. After I started investing in photography equipment & this blog, my birthday posts happened on the dot and the portrait photos of me greatly increased.

But when I think about it, that is what makes it so very wonderful. The twenties have held so much. College, adventures, studding abroad, camp summers, not dating Bruce, dating Bruce, marriage, buying a house, getting a full time job in my field, quitting that job to blog full time, and finding myself where I am today. I’m 29 living in Colorado Springs with my husband of nearly five years creative entrepreneur & running my own business. Looking back there were SO many steps that got me here. So many intentional choices I’ve made and so many paths I only see looking back. It has all brought me here to the last year of my twenties.

I wish I had more profound thoughts looking back and looking forward. For now I’m ever grateful to be where I am – right in the middle of it all. Maybe that is part of growing up. Here is to this last year of my twenties. Here is too the unknown and the new. Here is to the new lens I just bought (while writing this post) for my birthday. and here is to Oak + Oats.

Thanks for sticking around all these years and celebrating with me. I’m ever so grateful.

Happy birthday to you! I love the way you’ve pulled together these photos. I kind of want to do that for myself now, just to see how much I’ve changed.
