For the Love of Mornings

Thank you NESCAFÉ® for sponsoring this post & making mornings bright!

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a million times, I am not a morning person. Never was and honestly don’t think I will ever be. But mornings are not without hope. I am not a natural morning lover but I have created patterns and habits that awaken the love for the new day in me… and also just awake me 😉

My alarm goes off twice without fail. It is set for 4 alarms but I’m pretty good about getting up before they all go off. I fumble down the stairs and head straight to make myself coffee. Before anything else, coffee is what begins my day. I stand in the kitchen or curl back up on the couch holding my coffee. The house is always quiet at that time. And when it is summer I sit on the back porch and listen to the birds sing.

It is slow. The coffee is hot. And not much else is required of me.

I’ve tried many methods over the years. Waiting until I leave the house to go through the drive-thru feels too rushed (like I missed my “me time”) and it can also get a bit pricey! French presses and pour overs are fun but require a little more brain activity than I can put out in the morning. And the classic pot of coffee always goes wasted because I’m the only coffee drinker in the house (and I stick to my one cup a day!) That is why I was so excited to try the NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto®.

It’s perfect. I’m serious. When I can just walk downstairs and pop in a capsule, changing the size to whatever I want or making whatever I want (classic cup of black coffee, latte, tea) and like a two minutes later I am curling up with coffee in hand.

Mornings are not my thing, but rhythms are. Wake up, coffee, quiet time, breakfast, journaling, and prayer make up my morning routine. I don’t care how I look or what else needs to happen until those things are done. It’s my jump start to the day and makes everything else a bit more manageable!

Are you thinking that a NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto®  would make your mornings more manageable (and tasty) too? I’ve got good news for you! You can save 40% off one machine with code: OakAndOats40 (can be redeemed only at dolce-gusto.us until 6/14/17 )

Love your hair! Also, I love everything about this post…I’m addicted to reading about people’s morning routines and this made me want to buy the machine and take a nap just so I could wake up and drink coffee on my porch too!

That sounds like a perfect morning routine! Mine is pretty much the same. Keep it up. Don’t let busyness crowd that time out of your day. Love you!

Yes! I have had a busy couple weeks and let this routine slip in the morning and it is not helpful in the long run! hahah. PS: Like mother like daughter 🙂

Holy smokes, gal, your site is so beautiful! I just happened upon it, and BAM – what a treat. Love the vibe here, and yes – mornings are harrrrrd, but it is so worth that early morning “me” time, even when I’m tired! Agreed! Keep at it, love what you’re doing here.
