A Day in Denver

For my birthday my wonderful husband took me to Denver for the day. Denver is only an hour & a half away from the Springs but we don’t often make the journey up there. It is such a unique city and it is fun to explore it as semi-locals. I am in love with the Botanic Gardens (as is he) so that was a huge must do while we were in town. When we arrived to the gardens, it was actually free day! We were a bit nervous about it being to o crowded but it wasn’t that bad. It was an extra little birthday gift. We ate lunch, walked around the gardens, took these photos, and bought some adorable succulents.

After that we headed over to 16th street and walked down it to Union Station. I looooove Union Station! Honestly, anything that is historical that has been given new life makes me giddy! It is still used as a train station but not like it was at it’s height during WWI. They turned the rest of it into adorable shops, some eateries, bars, and a hotel!! One day we will go stay at that hotel – mark my words ๐Ÿ˜‰

We ate the best fish & chips at the Thirsty Lion where we also enjoyed some well-timed happy hour drinks! After that we walked down to Coors field to see if anyone was selling two tickets for the Rockies game for $12 since that was all the cash we had! We couldn’t find anyone to meet our prices & all the cheap seats were already sold out for the game. We made a note to get up for at least one game this year – baseball games are the best!

After that we picked up milkshakes, chatted on the patio, and then hit the road for home. Birthday day well done!
