We had some time before out flight back home so we wanted to explore some near by locations. Venice beach was right by the airport so we spent the afternoon there at the beach and hitting up In-N-Out for one last time. Venice beach is a quirky place. The beach itself was so beautiful and I loved walking along the shore, staring up at the mountains in the distance. It really is a beautiful site to have height near such depth. But it being so close to the heart of LA and their airport, it had this downtown city vibe – it was such a mix of people and personalities! The pedestrian only promenade was filled with tourists, performers, mystics, artists, vendors, and a nomads. It was eccentric and a little overwhelming (so many people!!)
We didn’t have time to stroll the canals – I’m sure that would have been so fun – but we did sit by the ocean and hear the waves crash for hours as well as experience all the art in the area. For the majority of our trip we stayed in Newport Beach and I think we all missed it a bit. Newport was much more calm and secluded while Venice was more of a party beach filled with people. We still enjoyed our time there and it was fun to visit such a famous beach.
You pretty much nailed my experiences with Venice beach. haha. It was always much more quirky and busy than some of the other beaches. I loved both Newport beach and Laguna beach when I was growing up in California. 🙂
hahah! Yes. It is a funny places. Newport was so fun and we never made it to laguna! I guess we’ll have to next time!
Venice is definitely eccentric! But you’re right, Newport is so chill, it’s definitely preferable.
haha! Yes!
Your photography is incredible! Looks like a glorious day to be at the beach 🙂
