Happy Birthday to Me

Today I turned 27. Every several years (it’s five unless it is a leap year and then that makes it 6 I think) my birthday falls on Mother’s day. The last time that happened it was my 21st birthday and my mom and I shared the holiday by seeing Star Trek in theaters and then hit up On The Boarder for some Margaritas. This year my mom is in Arkansas with my dad watching my baby sister graduate from college (OMG!) and we celebrated with my mother-in-law yesterday in a joint Mayberry family Mother’s Day/ Birthday celebration. So today I don’t have to share my holiday.

I don’t know what I am doing today. I told Bruce that I didn’t care what happened, but I wanted to celebrate and I didn’t want to plan it! Rest assured that whether we are running off to the mountains or just hitting up our favorite local breweries, I will be bringing my camera and documenting.

Someone the other day asked me how it felt to be “so old” – which I thought was an interesting question in general but the truth is I don’t! I don’t feel old. Yes, I may be approaching or in my late 20’s but I don’t feel hopeless or helpless or even old. I feel excited, thankful, and much wiser than I used to be.

When I look back on 26, I see a whole lot of wonderful and a whole lot of crazy. That is life for you. But one thing I can tell you is that no matter what, it was sweet. This blog has changed drastically with my last year’s birthday present (my Canon Rebel) and I’ve been in awe with the growth and truly enjoyed meeting so many more of you! Not only have fun things been going on in blog land, but fun things have been going on in life – vacations, weddings, babies, community, family, and friends.
