Autumn

Autumn Favorites

I thought that I would kick it old school and throw in some college photos for this post (because we are just so darn cute). As I create my Autumn Bucket List, I cannot help but remember all my past falls. The memories growing up or cider, pumpkins, and homemade Halloween costumes. Then the college years of throwing leaves, fall trips (fall break was a wonderful invention), carving pumpkins, and making cookies. Each year the memories of falls before encourage and inspire my new fall lists! The traditions have to be maintained and the adventures have to continue.

Let me tell you about all these people. This afternoon that continues to inspire my Autumn bucket lists each year. These are the girls of Delta Mu. A sorority we made up because 10 of us lived in this giant farm house just off of campus. We did everything together – vacations, studying, classes (we all practically had the same major), eating, sleeping, living, shopping, and adventuring.

That is the beautiful community of college. Just the shear amount of time that you have to be with people – I mean, you are always with people. Before we lived here, we lived on a hall filled with girls. The falls I spent with these ladies will always be a part of my future falls, just as my childhood memories are woven so deep into my traditions.

AUTUMN FAVORITES

1. Favorite fall fashion/clothing item?

EVERYTHING! This is one of the reasons that I love fall most. Boots, scarves, sweaters, boyfriend cardigans, rolled up jeans, layers… it all!
2. Favorite fall drink?
ย
I love when it gets cold enough to actually order hot chai and there is something so special about homemade hot cider around a fire!
3. What’s something on your fall bucket list?
ย
One thing this year is kind of a two parter! I have never canned food before and I really want to try! So I would love to go to an apple orchard and pick apples to can! I might even get adventures and try an apple butter of sorts!
4. Favorite fall recipe?
Oatmeal Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookies for sure! Toffee is my jam! And these are perfect with a nice cup of fresh coffee!
5. Halloween candy or Pumpkin Spice Latte?
ย
Halloween candy! Bring on the candy corn, little pumpkins, and general small wrapped candies!
6. Favorite fall scent?
ย
I love the smell of the leaves falling and the fresh mountain air. I can always smell fall coming to Colorado – the crisp smell of the mountain air rustles the leaves and just smells so darn good!
7. Favorite fall holiday?
ย
Thanksgiving! I love any excuse to spend time with the people I love and celebrate life. It is also my super sexy husband’s birthday and I love making a big deal about birthdays!
8. What is fall (weather) like where you live?
Fall is cool. So far it is still in the 80’s but Colorado is a weird world. I live in the foothills at the base of Pikes Peak so we are actually pretty protected by extreme weather because of the mountains! It will bounce around with some coolers days and warmer days but will always be sunny for the most part (we won’t get much rain or snow these days).

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR SWEETEST FALL MEMORIES?

Funny story… The Hubs used to be a student pastor and we had a pumpkin carving contest for Halloween… but everyone had to dress up. He chose to be Scooby Doo… in a giant Scooby costume. A girl came for the first time that night and later after she and her brother became some of our closest kids she told us that she thought we were so weird! Ha!
