i am not sure about you, but i an not a fan of making huge breakfasts every day. i just do not have time for that! yes, i love those sweet mornings when we have time to whip up a delishous breakfast, talk forever while we are eating, and let the dishes wait but those are sweet moments and not some that i experience everyday.
mornings are important to me. i get up early to have a quiet time, drink coffee, get ready for work, and be out the door by 7:30am. i value breakfast but i need quick meals during the week (and ones that go in the car are a plus!). Bruce mentioned the other day that we should “get into smoothies because our blender is such a boss” – it is true. we have a ninja that i got for Christmas and it really is the best blender i have even encountered! we made a plan that i can make one (double style) for both of us in the mornings and he will clean up the blender mess everyday (bless the Lord! that man loves cleaning the dishes and i am so grateful for that!)
here is one of the first ones we tried after i went on a pinning spree on pinterest! we did not have a lot of the ingredients laying around the house so i am making a mental note to buy them at the store (like chai seeds!) i found this one and was inspired to create a smoothie of similar makings with what i had in my home.
WHAT YOU NEED:
– raspberries (they are one sale here at my local grocery so i am socking up! only $1)
– 1 cup rice milk (or almond, soy, coconut, or organic milk – this depends on your lifestyle.)
– 2 handfuls old fashioned oats (that is what is in my cookie jar!)
– 2 handfuls of almonds (no salt)
– one small tub of Noosa yogurt
– cup of mixed berry frozen fruit
* makes two servings
TO MAKE:
1. dump it all in & blend
2. pour into glasses and enjoy!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE?
I love starting my day off with a green smoothie with spinach, banana and mango. Smoothies are such a great and quick breakfast.
I'm normally have a green smoothie in the morning but I'll need to give this a try sounds really tasty
I love to stock up on produce when it's in season and then chop and freeze it all. Then my smoothie almost always has a banana, soy milk, and frozen fruits or veggies. Recently I have been loving banana, peanut butter, and pineapple (with oats or flax) but I also love making coffee smoothies when it's warmer.
This looks delicious. I'd sub the yogurt for coconut cream, and I'm sure it would be just as wonderful!
I want to read an in-depth review on that blender! I've been wanting one for a long time, but I'm not sure how much I'd use it or if it would be worth having. Perhaps you can convince me one way or another 🙂
Yum. I'm awful about breakfast. I'm weird and it makes me feel nauseous if I eat really early, so I just need something to grab at about 9 or so, a few hours after I wake up. Weird… but I've always been that way. Smoothies sound great for that though! I've just been doing home made clif bars!
delish!! i have been making smoothies every morning for the past week. banana & strawberry has been my go-to. i get two fruit servings in one smoothie! score.
a) I wish I could find raspberries for only a dollar!
b) this looks delicious, I'm totally trying it!
c) I always use Chrome and sometimes your blog doesn't let me click on things, like just barely I couldn't click in the Disqus box to comment so I opened it up in Firefox instead. it's not the first time that's happened, sometimes I can't go to your older posts or use your search box, and it only happens on your blog . . . I should tell my techie husband, he could probably tell me why that's happening.
yum yum!!!!
and i always get fresh berries when they are on sale!! i LOAD UP, wash half of them and immediately freeze them so they won't go bad haha!
Yummy! I'll have to try this one! My favorite tastes more like a chocolate milkshake than a smoothie and I'm totally okay with that:
-One Frozen Banana
-One tablespoon of almond butter
-One cup of milk (I use almond)
-Two handfulls of raw spinach
-Two tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
-A dash of vanilla
-Two cups of ice
This looks so delicious! I can't wait to get back to breakfast smoothies, I haven't been able to do them lately. I'm a new reader and I just wanted to say that I LOVE your blog and the layout and everything- simple, elegant and beautiful!
