Things to do when Quarantined with a Toddler

Whether you are self-quarantining or practicing social distancing, a lot of us are going to be spending a lot more time at home with just our direct family members. I am a stay at home mom and Bruce works from home. These days will be pretty similar to our normal just without all the play dates, library trips, music class, errands, and other things we do to keep from going crazy ๐Ÿ˜‰ In my “normal” life we try to go out every day. This season of COVID-19 is unlike anything we’ve ever been through before or could have imagined and the research shows just how much social distancing will help flatten the curve! To protect the most vulnerable, our family is practicing social distancing/ self-quarantining. It’s going to be a little hard (because we love playing with our friends!) but we are going to make the best out of this quality family time!

Here are some things we are planning to do over the next weeks to have fun!

  • Make Playdough. I found this recipe on Pinterest and I want to try it out! Just got to make sure I have cream of tarter!
  • Go on Nature Hikes (alone) and take our time exploring the rocks and sticks!
  • Color with Chalk
  • Play Bubbles
  • Give them free range in your backyard (if you have one)
  • Make a bucket list together of fun things you can do while quarantined! It is fun to get all your kids & spouse involved if you can!
  • Watch Sesame Street (a bunch of seasons are on Hulu!)
  • Bluey is also a fun show to watch on Disney+
  • Open up some new surprises every couple of days to keep things fresh. I ordered more LEGO DUPLO blocks on Amazon as well as some mess free painting & coloring. We are going to space these activities out a couple days and we get to open the new toys too as part of the fun! If you don’t already have bubbles or chalk, they can be great ideas order to add to this new unwrapping activity!
  • Make Cookies
  • Watch Frozen 2 on Disney+
  • Chick-Fil-A drive through
  • Bubble Baths
  • Other Goose has 3 free weeks of homeschooling content for ages 2-7. Sign up for that and try some new things!
  • Dance Party!
  • Read Out Loud.
  • Rotate rooms you are playing in for variety.
  • Organize clothes & toys. Make a box of donations / put away clothes that are too small.
  • Take photos!
  • Do PJ days and spend all day in your jammies!
