I wasn’t going to do Easter Baskets this years because the girls are young and we were going to do other things to celebrate Easter. But in lieu of the current state of events in the world, I changed my mind to make this season more fun. We wont be doing Easter Egg hunts or family meals and the thing I am most dissapointed about is that we don’t get to have Millie baptized this Easter like Hilde was last year. I thought it would be fun for them to share the holiday as a second birthday. I know there is always next year and also many other dates this year once this coronavirus is all over, but I’m still sad it won’t work out now. I’m also just realizing that I never posted about Hilde’s baptism (because I was going to link it to this post!) so I’ll add that to my to-to list!
This is the post from last year’s basket! At the time I only knew we had one baby girl so I only got one bunny basket and now they don’t sell them anymore – boo! Oh well, it didn’t stand up well anyways. This year I just went into their room and stole some toy baskets… it works!
Bruce and I both have different Easter Basket traditions and we haven’t really figured out what one we are going with. My parents left ours at the end of the bed (sneaking in while we were sleeping) and his parents hid his basket for him to wake up and find in the morning. Did you do one of those? Or something else with your Easter Baskets? The girls are not old enough to care either way yet but I am a stickler for tradition and once we start something we have to finish it! HAHA!
One thing I did end up stealing a bit from my childhood was color coding. In a family of four kids, I was 7 years older than my youngest brother so for a lot of our childhood all four of us were at different stages of life. My parents would prepare our Easter Eggs with things each one of us would like specifically and then hide them according to our age & skill. To do this we each had a color that we would look for. I was purple, my sister Becca was pink, Sarah was yellow, and Chris was blue. So when I was adding Easter Eggs to my Walmart grocery order, I added some pink eggs and some teal. They were out of the teal so they gave me blue – it works! The rest of the baskets just came together so well to continue this color theme especially once I found these dolls! I guess I was subconsciously giving them their own color themes!
