Happy Earth Day! I always love celebrating this holiday (as I love EVERY holiday!) It is a great time to come together as communities to serve our cities and individually in our home to take steps toward a more sustainable future. Sometimes the “Save the Planet” movement can feel like a job too big to tackle, especially when you are a young mama just trying to make it through the day and enjoying it! haha. But the truth is there are so many little things you can start doing that add up to making a huge difference.
While my baby is still clearly a baby, she is also growing into a little human. Each day I see her trying to do more – waving when people say hi, trying to sing along with me & the music, and trying to drink out of my drinks! She sees what I do and the things I value and it is rubbing off on her! Not only are we mega fans of water and staying hydrated (hello Colorado life) but we also care about the amount of waste we create.
We ditched plastic water bottles in our home long ago and switched to fresh filtered water and giant cups all over our house! Did you know that 2,000 plastic water bottles are used every second?! I cannot even imagine that visual! Even as I type this right now a minute has passed which means 120K plastic water bottles just got used! Plastic water bottles take 450 years to decompose and they say by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean (yikes.) Clearly I am not using 2000 water bottles every minute, but every person who ditches bottled water helps the number go down!
We love our Brita Longlast Pitcher! It keeps our water fresh, clean, and cold so that we can keep drinking it all day long! Especially as a breastfeeding mama, I have giant cups of water everywhere I go! Here in Colorado we are pretty spoiled with great water but we still love that the longlast filters filter out odors and impurities for better tasting water and reduces 99% of Lead plus Mercury, Chlorine, Benzene, & other stuff found in tap water.
We’ve ditched bottled water over here in our home with the help of Brita! Get #BetterWithBrita and pick up the Brita Longlast Pitcher at Target to stay hydrated and help our planet! What are some small changes you have made in your home to take care of our planet?
We are slowly moving away from plastic too! I’ve been switching out a few things every payday. I love the look of that pitcher. Cute color!
That’s so cute that your baby tries to sing along with you to music. I can’t believe the plastic water bottle statistic, I definitely feel more compelled to ditch using them!
