Thank you NESCAFÉ® for sponsoring this post & making mornings bright!
Let’s pretend we are sitting down for coffee together – we can meet at my house, my treat! I just got a NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® and I’ve been making drinks for everyone these days. I even brought it up to the cabin in May when we went on our family trip for everyone to enjoy! And not to brag or anything but one friend told me that he liked the Cappuccino at my house better than one he just got at a coffee shop. I’m practically a pro and all I have to do is put the pod in the coffee maker 😉
I’ll make us both Café Au Lait because it makes us sound fancy & sophisticated plus it is my go-to every morning because it is all kinds of creamy & delicious. It is also looks really pretty in the mug I brought home from Norway – a true sign of a good coffee date!
Now that we have our mugs in hand, let’s get down to the life stuff. May, #amiright?! May birthday excitement + all the other things that happen in May = Hurricane. My house and emotional well being is feeling all of that crazy. Can you relate? I know I need to slow down and say no to things but I have serious FOMO and I’m a bit of a workaholic. The three day weekend was all kinds of fun but I also had work at the back of my mind the whole time. I fit it in where I could and pretty much stretched myself too thin trying to do it all. I don’t love that I can be like that but this weekend I really saw how it affected me. This June things will have to change and I think it will be better for all of us – including our friendship.
I am slowly working on creating habits and patterns to help me focus during the workday and to make time for the things that really matter. Really, I wish I was perfect at everything now but I am learning that slow progress is still progress and good things take time. Slow mornings are important to me and I finally created a rhythm that works for me. Rushed mornings only go downhill from there. I need to wake up, sip my coffee (my tasty coffee), sit on the porch, read, journal, and pray. I’ve got that one down and I am working on patters of work so that I can create patterns of rest too (aka not working all night and all weekend.) Again, I’ll lament over how I am not perfect but that verse in 2 Cor 12:9 comforts my soul –“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” It is not about perfection. It is about progress, grace, and being thankful for the little things. Things like coffee shop caliber coffee with the push of a button in my kitchen.
Our cups are empty, our hearts are full, and the clocks hands have moved forward a couple hours. I’ll say how good this was to do and how it is part of me practicing those patterns of rest. Coffee is meant to be enjoyed not gulped. And if you want to make these Café Au Lait drinks at home too, I’ve got you!
