One of the things we wanted to do while we were in Buena Vista was get in some family friendly hiking. Buena Vista is a great place for all kinds of exploring and hiking but we knew we had a baby with us that had to stick to a nap & eating schedule if we wanted to keep him and everyone else happy. The Midland Rail Road trail is one that we did all the time as kids so I knew it was family friendly. It provides the steep/ challenging hiking part with some fun downhills and a nice walk where the train tracks used to be. Plus it is near water and when you get to the top, there are some incredible views!
For this excursion we packed lunches to eat along the way. This not only kept the baby happy but the rest of us as well! Bringing along food for a day hike is pretty much always a good idea! Plus packed sandwiches taste so much better on top of a mountain! We also brought our tripod because group pictures are a must (like the one below… totally made for framing 😉
This hiking trail looks so beautiful! I’ve been craving more hiking adventures recently. Walking and talking with friends is so re-energizing!
It really is!
