Between the Storms

Hiking in Colorado Springs with Fayettechill

Location: Upper Gold Camp Road Outfit Details: Alpine Sweatshirt (her) || Brook Shorts (her) || z/2 Classic Chacos (her) || Franklin Hat (his) || Mongrel Shorts (his) || Jackson Stripped Crew (his) || z/2 Classic Chacos (his)

The Colorado Springs forecast had Saturday at 60 degrees & sunny and Sunday as blizzarding. “Blizzards” are a funny word around here – it either means you are going to get the most snow you’ve seen in a long while or a dusting might come through. Either way, the impending snowstorm & temperature drops drove us (and the rest of the city) outside! We picked a hike near by and started our adventures. We giggled about the fact that we were wearing shorts & our Chaco sandals and I wished that I had painted my toenails 😉

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, we love that we live next door to so many beautiful hikes. It is one of our favorite ways to get some exercise & fresh air with some wonderful quality time. Our to-do lists, jobs, and commitments call for our attention all week (and often into our weekends as well) – we enjoy the time to get away, to leave phone calls unanswered, and to decompress. There is nothing like getting away from it all and into nature to help you sort things out and bring a new perspective.

If you follow me on Instagram you know that the “Blizzard” was the real deal this time and called for snow days, late starts, and more layers!

“I like this place and could willingly waste my time in it.”
― William Shakespeare

How lucky to live so close to such gorgeous trails. #jealous I live in Miami and the weather is absolutely beautiful this time of year but I must settle for weekend afternoon walks around my crowded neighborhood. Guess that’s the trade-off! No blizzards in sight! 🙂

Yes! I am sure there are some beaches with great views? Hahah! But really just getting out and moving is a good thing 🙂

It’s so foreign to me that you can be wearing sandals and shorts with snow still on the ground! Crazy Colorado weather! Glad you got to get out in the sunshine for a bit!

I don’t know how you do it, but seeing you in shorts in the middle of snow makes it both interesting and weird! I’ve only seen snow twice, and I don’t think I can wear shorts even in 60F weather!
