Oh my goodness! July sure flew by here in the Mayberry home! We had SO many visitors come into town and while we enjoyed spending time with them, it totally zapped July and our energy levels 😉 While my aunt and uncle were in town my mom texted me asking if I wanted to go on a lunch hike with them! I told her I would ask my boss (that’s me ;)) and I said yes! Having a flexible schedule and making my own rules is one of the best parts about owning my own business! That lunch hike turned into drive to Mueller State Park and hike & stop at a local pub for beers kind of lunch but I just rolled with it!
Mueller State Park is just 45 ish minutes outside of Colorado Springs and the whole drive is gorgeous because you just keep winding up into the mountains the whole time. My mom has a couple favorite hikes up there so we went on her favorite (mom rules) and it was stunning. It was also fun to get good time in with family. My little brother is home from college for a small part of the summer and we always have a blast together. Being seven years older, it wasn’t until the last several years that we’ve grown real close. Also, my aunt and uncle were in town so it was fun catching up with them. They live in California and every time I see them I think about how badly I need more California trips in my life – good thing we finally have one on the calendar!
We’ve been soaking up the summer bit by bit and it has been magically good for my soul. Not in the “everything has been perfect” summer way but in the “this is not what I expected or what I planned but it is so good and I’m learning to surrender” summer way! Haha! I don’t even know if that makes sense but it is a good thing!
PS: Every time I go on I hike I think about trying to take some moody/ artsy outdoorsy photos that I could post on instagram like a cool hipster. But then I can not stop smiling and all the colors are just too bright and lively! SO they turn out like this and I post them anyways with a John Denver song because Colorado is awesome, colorful, and makes me smile … and I’m not a hipster.
can’t get over the rolling hills and how beautiful those trees are! i wish that’s what the landscape looked like here in PA 🙂

Thanks so much! I love the Colorado mountain landscape!
It’s so pretty there! I want to go back this fall when the leaves turn. 🙂
Me too! Those fall leaves are STUNNING!
Wow!! That looks like a blast, and the pictures are stunning!!
Thanks so much!! I love hikes like this!
This hike is so, so beautiful! I understand the sibling age-gap thing, but it’s so special now that we’re old enough to truly develop a friendship.
I know! It is so fun! We also have two siblings between us so we tended to split oldest and youngest!
I love that photo of you sitting on the rock with the pine trees in the background! 🙂
Thanks!!!
It’s so beautiful there! There’s nothing like family time either. What a great combo.
Beautiful pictures Beth! It was a perfect day, mostly….
hahah! I know. I didn’t mention the lens that soared off the cliff!! AH!
We’ve been going on some awesome hikes this summer too! It’s great to get out into the sunshine!
