Christmas season flies by too quickly. Suddenly the gifts, parties, events, crafting, cookie exchanges, and concerts soak up all the time. We get to the end of the season wondering where it all went and what it all really means. The funny thing is that we long to slow down and connect during this season but there are so many activities and expectations that we do the opposite - we speed up. ... continue reading...

Our Christmas Tree Hunt
Bruce and I started a new tradition when we got married. Actually, a year after we got married because our first Christmas tree was a fake one I picked up at Goodwill and didn't love. Bruce and I had grown up differently in the tree department. My parents always had a fake tree in the garage that we brought out the day after thanksgiving - no fail. Bruce's family always had a real tree that they picked up from the local grocery store and set up some time after thanksgiving. When I went into ... continue reading...

Autumn Favorites
I thought that I would kick it old school and throw in some college photos for this post (because we are just so darn cute). As I create my Autumn Bucket List, I cannot help but remember all my past falls. The memories growing up or cider, pumpkins, and homemade Halloween costumes. Then the college years of throwing leaves, fall trips (fall break was a wonderful invention), carving pumpkins, and making cookies. Each year the memories of falls before encourage and inspire my new fall lists! The ... continue reading...

Five Ways to Be Brave While Traveling
There is something about traveling that makes you a tad bit crazy. You will find yourself paying double the amount for a cup of coffee than normal, trying a local food you have never eaten before, buying souvenir mugs, or jumping in frozen Norwegian lakes. All justified by saying "when in (fill in the blank!)" I am not saying it is a bad thing - I'm saying it is an exhilarating thing! I have done all these things while on vacation. Vacations have a way of making us break out of our shell, try ... continue reading...

The Rehearsal Dinner
In all my wedding advice, I love to emphasize how important it is to be yourself at your wedding. Weddings are rooted in traditions - within your family or just within our culture. Tradition tells you that you have to do things certain ways. YOU DON'T. Do things the way you want to. Skip some traditions, hold others dear to your ... continue reading...
