as i sit down here to write my very first words of my newly created blog, i am wordless. what can i possibly say that has any value? i can write so much but in the end, it is all just a pile of mere words... forming thoughts i suppose. katharsis: the purging and cleansing of ones emotions. after discovering this word in my english class once upon a time it has been a word that has remained with me... i find myself entering this process weekly, and i feel the weight when i try and shove my ... continue reading...

July Books
I find it hilarious that I am making myself stay on top of these monthly book posts while I am sitting on dozens of drafts of other blog posts that are arguably more important or at least more personal than these ones. But for some reason I cannot stop sharing my very valuable opinions on the books I've been reading and bragging about my progress toward my book reading goal for 2024 ;) Ever since I quit influencing and Instagram, I've found so many pockets of free time to read again. I read ... continue reading...

Galentine’s Bouquet & Brunch
It's funny to think that Galentine's wasn't a thing before the 2010 episode of Parks & Rec and Leslie Knope's heart to celebrate "the best day of the year - ladies celebrating ladies!" It was a thing that grabbed the attnetion of women of all ages and Galentine's parties started popping up everywhere. Now Galentine's Day goes han-in-hand with the historic St. Valentine's holiday celebration. I've done several Galentine's parties over the years, but this year my friend Meredith and I ... continue reading...
June Booklist
I finished seven books in June and ended the month with a couple spilling over into July! I keep cracking myself up with my current Goodreads goal sitting at 309% in completion! I didn't realize how much I would enjoy a good book this year and how much reading I could possibly get done in this life stage. As I dig more into homeschooling, I've been reading even more with my kids which has inspired me to read on my own for pleasure too. We can devour stories in the car, sit on blankets in the ... continue reading...
Cardboard Easter Bunny Masks
"Morning Mommy! Are we going to craft today?" My oldest always wakes up thinking of the day ahead. She comes into our room proclaiming that "the light is green" and proceeds to rattle off all her 3-year-old thoughts she has kept in all night before rushing to the bathroom to pee. My husband sweetly listens to her chatterings while also trying to make sure she keeps her voice down to allow the rest of the house several more minutes of sleep. When I emerge from the bedroom, her eyes catch ... continue reading...
A Wildflower Themed 3rd Birthday
Three years ago Hilde Joy made me a mom and Bruce a dad. We had no idea what the future would look like, how we would take care of and raise this little human, and how much our lives would change. It's been three years since they handed me a tiny little newborn and would you look at her now. Hilde's personality has always been there but it is so fun to see it continue to bloom and grow. She has a joy and passion for life. She loves her friends and "cousins." Imaginative and passionate ... continue reading...
Birdcall comes to Colorado Springs
We ate at a new local restaurant this weekend to celebrate the first day of Spring and the fact that the best restaurants are becoming part of the culture of Colorado Springs! Birdcall is a Denver based restaurant that now has a home base in our beautiful city (with Pikes Peak views right form the porch!) Their mission is to make natural foods assessable and to also give back to their community! We had never been to Birdcall before but instantly fell in love with the vibe and the food! The ... continue reading...
Happy 4th of July!
Every summer we go to Kansas. Why in the summer? I have no idea. It is always SO.DANG.HOT! Really it is because the Mays come to Colorado around Christmas so the middle of summer is the halfway point and we can only go about 6 months without seeing each other! HAHA. Long story short we are working on a new plan but this time I wanted to make sure we were in stinking hot Kansas over 4th of July so that we could shoot off FIREWORKS! John & Mere were in our wedding eight years ago and since ... continue reading...
Bodomint Diaper Bag Giveaway
The other day I got a text from my friend that said "I can just search "Mere" on your blog and see all my posts" and it is true. Here is another one for that list! Meredith has been a star on my blog for years now! haha. John & Mere have always supported and encouraged this little blog of mine and they have also been willing to put up with my camera time and time again. From the first time we met the Mays, we knew we would be best friends. They were our first official couple friends - like ... continue reading...

Being Foodies in Wichita, KS
When I asked my friend Meredith what there is to do in Kansas she replied with "eat!" She was right, especially because we visited in July when Kansas is hecka hot. So not only do you eat, but you eat indoors! We had a lot of fun hopping around town and visiting some of the Wichita local eats & drinks (because you know we WILL find a new brewery to go to!) So really, without further ado - here are all the places we ate at and all the photos we took! Hopping Gnome Brewery Let's start off ... continue reading...

When Best Friends Come Back to Town
WARNING: This post may get sappy ;) When Bruce and I moved back to Colorado Springs after college, we were recently dating & excited to no longer be long distance. But we also were leaving our wonderful college communities and starting over with friendships. It was a hard season for many reasons - I know so many of us know what it is like to make friends outside of college. It is a journey for sure. We met the Mays at church and again when Bruce's mom gave us pottery lessons at Meredith's ... continue reading...
St. Elmo, Colorado
St. Elmo is a place I have loved going since I was a little kid. It is a totally legit ghost town. It once was an adorable little mining town but when silver was done being mined everyone hopped on the last train out of town and never came back - leaving homes, shops, a church, a schoolhouse, furniture, and anything they couldn't carry with them behind. It is a little town up in the Colorado mountains packed with history and story and I'm all about that life. Also, the views are ... continue reading...
Mommy & Me
I had my first opportunity to capture a little mommy and me home session. It was my dear friend Mere and her little one (who is getting bigger each day!) While our husband's worked on computers & fixing tables, we went upstairs to play with my camera & hopefully get some "instagramable home shots!" Haha! It was fun and totally different breaking out of the role as blogger and trying to rock the photographer role. You may remember back last summer I when I took pictures of Mere pregnant ... continue reading...
Lily Jade Bag
This summer has been a fun season for many reasons! One of them being the amount of wonderful friends I have to are growing little ones inside them (pregnancy is so beautiful and weird! I love it!) John & Mere are one of those preggos in our lives! They are two of our best friends and some of our first (if not first) friends who only knew us as Bruce & Beth. We had just ended our long distance dating period and were back in Colorado Springs when we met John & Mere. We played ... continue reading...
Mya Bella Cupcakes
LOCATION: Mya Bella Cupcakes - Colorado Springs, CO If you don't get out much to explore your city, I recommend you do. I am one who always longs for vacations, for new places, for adventure. But sometimes you do not need to hop on an airplane or stay in a hotel to find something new. Meredith is my "let's find something new" friend. We make our husbands go to new breakfast eateries, we try new coffee shops, and we always explore. Last Saturday we met for coffee and wandered around town ... continue reading...
