a morning cup

i am almost embarrassed to say that most mornings look like this – starbucks via. i have been talking about how i wake up, roll out of bed, and head straight to the kitchen to make my coffee. i do that by turning on my tea pot, grabbing a mug, and dumping a via into it. i then pull out my Bible, grab my blanket (mornings are cold) and turn on my pandora All Sons & Daughters playlist. by then the hot water is ready and vola! instant coffee.
i used to be so classy. i worked at a totally hispter coffee shop during college and i carried my french press around with me at camp. as i have aged, i have lost my coffee snobery and gotten a tab bit lazy! i still use my french press on weekends when i feel like i can take my time but most mornings i just want a quick cup of coffee. (side note: unlike most normal people, we also don’t use a normal coffee pot because i am the only one who drinks coffee and i really try to stick with only one cup a day! so a whole pot for me is just a waste/ too much work.)
can anyone else relate?
is there something you said you would never do and as you have aged you do it now?!?!
i just got to know i am not the only one!!!

anyone else rock the starbucks vias!?!?

  • I have never actually had a Starbucks Via! I have a French press too, and use that for coffee, since my husband doesn't drink it. But even though it takes awhile, I always find myself doing something in the morning that makes that time pass by quickly, whether it's making breakfast or unloading the dishwasher. πŸ™‚

  • I worked at a coffee shop all through high school as well and never thought I would drink just black drip coffee. Now it is how I start my morning and I need that one cup of coffee every morning.

  • While I don't rock the Starbucks Via (Aldi mass quantity coffee to save money used here!) I DO have my All Sons and Daughters station on when I want things mellow and chill around! Love them!

  • I can so relate to this, I use to work in a coffee shop in university and I became such a huge coffee snob. We would turn our noses up at all kinds of orders. Now as long as the coffee is hot most morning I don't care at all….but espresso is a different story πŸ˜‰

  • haha you WERE a coffee snob. i remember πŸ˜‰ i still love you. also, are the vias good? they make them for lattes now and i was thinking about trying them out!

I wish I had a morning routine. I usually roll out of bed, get ready, and head out the door.

I said that I would never pay for a gym again since I can work out a home. . .I just got a gym membership this week. I need a change of scenery to stay motivated I guess. It happens.

  • I don't rock the Starbucks vias, but I definitely wouldn't be opposed. It seems a lot better than regular instant coffee!

i have yet to try a starbucks via – but i recently got a french press and = LOVE IT!
we have a keureg so that helps too.
i've actually always loved herbel tea in the morning (earl grey anyone?!) but i have a cup of coffee if i'm about to pass out πŸ˜‰

  • I drank the via when I was in Korea. It wasn't instant and helped me make it through the last 3 hours of teaching. I have some VIA for camping trips too.

I'm afraid I've turned more snobbish when it comes to coffee. I have an Italian espresso maker that I use just about every morning. I heat my milk on the stove, and lately I've been getting heavy whipping cream and making a massive amount of whipped cream to put on top of my latte. Such a healthy morning option, right? Currently, time is my bff so I can do it. However, I know it isn't forever.

my morning sounds so similar, except swapping the coffee for a tea, since coffee makes me sick. LLLOOOVVVEE All Sons and Daughters. If you ever have the chance to see them live, don't miss it!!

  • I MUST try this!!! This would be perfect for me! Most mornings I'm running late haha something quick like this is exactly what I need.

  • I love those! They're sooo yummy.

  • I've never tried via! But now I want to… πŸ™‚
My husband is a total coffee snob. But I'd much prefer something fast in the mornings!
And All Sons & Daughters is also my morning Pandora station!

I might not drink Via's but I'm definitely addicted to Gevalia mocha k-cups. They're amazing!

i LOVE the starbucks via lattes! i like the pumpkin spice latte and the peppermint mocha latte ones!

i have tried the regular coffee ones but they were so sweet and i hate sugar in my regular coffee lol but the latte ones are perfection and taste just like a barista made it.

    cute blog!

  • It's so important to spend time with the Lord, even if it's with gross Via coffee. πŸ˜‰

  • hahah! so true. and I wish I had the time/ money to sit in a coffee shop every morning instead of making via OR just had a barista living in my house to make me coffee!

  • interesting! I was nervous about the latte ones because I drink my coffee black πŸ™‚ and don't do dairy… lol. but I am glad to hear you like them!

    Also, thanks for the compliment!

  • yes! i think I just have a hard time with cleaning my french press every day πŸ˜‰

  • for sure! i so can relate to that!

  • I have never heard of Aldi Coffee! Where can you get that? and I would brew it by the pot if I was not the only one drinking coffee. It is hard/ weird to do one cup without burning it!

  • people love them i hear. i am weird about the dairy part…
