Tips for Throwing a Christmas PJ Party

Tips for throwing a Christmas PJ Girls Night Party with @Frito-Lay - love staying cozy inside and celebrating while is is cold outside! #adThank you to Frito Lay for sponsoring this post.

The holiday season passes by so quickly. The older I get, the more shocked I am at how in the world we got to the end of the year so quickly. Before we know it we will be ringing in 2017 and a new year will begin! I love the holiday season – I want to savor it, enjoy it, and soak up every bit of it. So often our to-do lists and calendars get so packed that we find ourselves rushing to get things done that we don’t really take time to enjoy the season!

This year I want to be more intentional about Christmas. I want to gather with friends, cuddle under blankets, laugh at funny movies, share stories, give intentional gifts, and remember the reason for the season. So I threw a Christmas movie PJ  party! It was a blast and while we didn’t really all spend the night, we wore our jammies and cuddled on the couch all afternoon and into the night watching our favorite Christmas movies! Planning a party like this to start of the Christmas season with a bang is honestly soooo easy! Meaningful time doesn’t always need to be planned weeks in advance! Here are some tips for hosting your own Christmas PJ Party!

INVITE YOUR GIRLFRIENDS

Shoot a text to your girl friends with the time and details! Tell everyone to wear there cozy jammies (to stay warm!) and bring their favorite Christmas movie to share. If you end up having a lot of friends reply back saying they are in, I suggest putting the movies in a bag and “drawing” 2-3 of them to watch or else you’ll be watching Christmas movies all week 😉 Make sure to tell them you’ve got snacks covered so they just need to worry about jammies and movies!

GRAB SNACKS

Once you invite your girls, hit up the grocery store and grab some snacks. Everyone likes snacks (and drinks!!) while you’re watching movies. Also, it  is a party! Some chips will really add to the fun of the event and the party like atmosphere! Feel free to have fun with the food. I picked up some Shock Top, Lipton Peach Tea, and Lay’s Kettle Cooked Potato Chips for our gathering!

GATHER BLANKETS & MAKE ROOM

Go around your house gathering blankets and pillows to dump in your movie room. I remember being a kid and finding all the blankets in the house for forts and overnighters. Feel free to move furniture or other things out of the way to make room for your PJ Party! Everyone can cuddle up in their own spot to get ready for the movie marathon! Think like a kid again!

HAVE FUN

This is just a silly time to have girl time and enjoy Christmas! Let yourself feel like a kid again and don’t put too much pressure on yourself to throw a “perfect” Christmas party or  stress about getting ready for Santa. This is a time to laugh with your friends and get into the Christmas spirit so that you can be intentional with the holiday season this year! Also, don’t stress about the food! It’s so easy to pick up a couple bags of chips and some drinks and they’ll make the whole party fun and tasty!

So often we can get caught up in the busyness and the perfection of Christmas that we really miss the whole point. Take sometime to get into the holiday spirit and give yourself some grace this year. Don’t let the season pass you by!
