Today is Earth Day! There are several events here around town celebrating today. We have friends in town & 2-year-old birthday parties this weekend so I don’t think we’ll make it to any of the events but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate! Plus Earth Day is one day to remind you to take care of the Earth year round – not just today! So here are three ways you can continue celebrating Earth Day as you go into your summer!
#1 GROW YOUR OWN FOOD
If you have a garden, use it! Throw in some lettuce, kale, tomatoes, and zucchini! If you don’t have space for a huge garden (like us) pot some herbs in little post in your kitchen! There is something about taking care of In honor of your plants, cultivating them, and enjoying their fruits!
Are you an online shopper? Summer beer drinker? Naked Juice breakfast champion? ME TOO! All those boxes, cans, and bottles can be recycled. Look to see if your neighborhood offers recycling in addition to trash (ours does!) you may be surprised to see they do offer it. If not, you can look up the nearest drop off location and know you are doing your part this summer by recycling!
#3 CARPOOL (or Bike!)
This summer will bring so many activities! Think about the ones you can do without cars or the ones you can carpool with friends for! Not only is it more fun to ride with friends, but it gets a car off the road and saves on pollution! Also, you may find that the walk or bike to the park is part of the adventure of getting out!
#4 Shop at the Farmers Market!
This summer find the locations & dates of the farmers markets in your town. Locally grown food is easier on the environment and great for your local economy! By supporting the farmers in your area, you are investing in your community and saving it for future generations!
#5 Go paperless
One way to really cut down on your waste is to go paperless! Most bill paying services, donation receipts, and even coupon subscriptions offer an option to pay online/receive information by email! By all means, still send love notes through the mail but you don’t need all your bills too if you can just get them emailed (it is also so much more convenient I think!)
I took it upon myself to go green this month by planting and harvesting my very own kale with the help & inspiration of my Naked Juice! I also really want to get a kitchen garden going on this summer – so that is on my list! I love Naked Juice because they are deeply rooted in their commitment to sustainability & make sure all products have an impact that will enhance your life and the planet’s. Since its founding in 1983, they have been committed to creating the most nutritious beverages that enhance your life and the planet’s. From 100 percent post-recycled reNEWable bottles to a LEED-certified bottling facility, Naked Juice is committed to the belief that wellness extends beyond personal health. Naked Juice is also the only nationally distributed juice company to use 100 percent rPET to keep turning bottles into bottles again and again. You can read more about all that here!
Thank you Naked Juice for sponsoring this post.
