A Calling

A wise lady once told me that and I will never forget it. My friend and I were attending a conference. We were sitting around trying to figure out where the Lord was planning on using us, what His future plans for us were,  how we would make sure we didn’t miss His calling, and how worried we were that we would misread Him. A stranger near by smiled, leaned over, and gently reminded us that life isn’t about seeking the perfect future or figuring out God’s plans, it is just simply sitting with the Father, going to Him, seeking Him, and accepting His love & grace. When we go with the Father, we will always be where we need to be when we need to be. He will use our dreams, our passions, our skills, and our story best when we seek Him and when we trust.

Want to know a secret? I am a mess right now. I’m stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, easily irritated, and I could cry on moment’s notice. I need a break and I need some time. It wasn’t until I sat down at my computer and realized that what I really needed was Jesus. So I am going to meet Him, for He is calling me to His heart & He is calling you. Wherever you are and wherever you are at. He is your calling.
  • beautiful.
    I needed this too Beth.
    Thank you for sharing, and may your time with Jesus be sweet and refreshing. <3

  • This is such a wonderful reminder. Thank you.

  • YES! Thanks so much for sharing this. I have been doing a personal 365 day challenge and reading the daily devotional Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. It's a reminder everyday of the words you just wrote.

    I also struggle with knowing if I'm following the Lords plan for me. I find myself wondering. Was it dentistry, is it apparel design, or is it working for myself. But, when it comes down to it…those words are true. Just come to him…and all will be in its place.

    ::hugs::
    i needed to read this today.
    This is obviously the work of the Holy Spirit in your life overflowing to touch the hearts of others…like myself.
    Just last night i was laying in bed thinking i have no idea what i'm supposed to be doing…do i stay at my current job? seek out ministry? where am i going?!?!
    It's frustrating and challenging and DRAINING…

    God does not call me to a place, but to Himself…
    Thank you Beth….seriously <3

  • What a wise lady indeed! Just last week I was struggling with where I am now. I was worrying way too much about if I was following Him, hearing Him, and actually listening to Him. Thank you for reminding me that it's not about that, but rather, He's calling me to just BE with Him. Loved this so so much. 🙂

  • Loved this when you told me the first time, and still love it now!! Such a great reminder. Praying for you friend, hope things get easier!

  • this is awesome. i love that he is calling us to Himself. She said it quite succinctly, but I have tried to focus on that the last few years in my own way. Takes so much pressure off to know I'm always exactly where I need to be.

  • LOVE.
