no reply bloggers // let’s be friends

one of my favorite parts about blogging is the blogging community. honestly, didn’t think that it would be that way when i started blogging one rainy night in northern ireland. i never thought anyone would read my blog and i didn’t know that there were blogs to be read! but as i have grown and discovered the blog world, i have been blown away by the community and all the people who sit on the other side of the screen!

last week i talked about how google feed is going bye bye but i still wanted to be friends, so i encouraged you all to follow me on bloglovin’.

this week i want to take to you about no reply bloggers.

the truth is a lot of you are no reply bloggers and it makes me sad. every time you comment on my blog the comment goes straight to my email and i want to respond to you – to tell you how funny your comment is or talk about my favorite episode of Dr.Who with someone who gets is and then BAM. noreplybloger. i cannot respond. and it isn’t only me who isn’t responding to all your great comments but every other blog that you comment on!

i want to build and nurture community. i love responding to your comments and building relationships! and i just want to take about this because so many of you do not even realize that you are a no reply blogger! i was once in your place.

TO FIX THAT:
1. you have to log your blog out of google+. i was eager to switch everything over to google+ when it came out but what i did not realize was that it made me a no reply blogger. you can still keep your google+ account (i still do!) you just have to revert your blog back to the old blog format.

2. once you have reverted back (or if you never upgraded), click your name in the top right corner and this box pops up. then click on “blogger profile”

3. then click “edit profile” in the same right hand corner

4. now just make sure the box next to “show my email” is checked.

TA-DA!!! now if you did all that and you comment on my blog i PROMISE i will respond!

it is an easy way to encourage and build community as you hop around a comment on your favorite blogs! i just love being friends!

don’t forget about this giveaway & this one as well!!!!

  • Thank goodness you mentioned this! I had no idea. I love your blog and love to be a part of your community 🙂

  • I just started my blog this week, so thanks for the tip! I just changed it 🙂

  • I'm so glad you wrote this post! I was a no-reply blogger for a couple months in the beginning–not because i wanted to be, i just had no clue! i figured it out myself one day while searching and started making more friends so fast 🙂 haha, i hope all the no-reply bloggers out there find your post!

    grace & love,

  • No-reply bloggers make me so sad!!! I hate not being able to respond to comments. Posts like this are helpful – hopefully people who don't realize they're a no-reply blogger will fix it!!!

  • Amy

    ahhh thank you! 🙂
I'm constantly emailing people a link that tells them how to fix it…it makes me sad too! I want to talk to new peeps!

  • Love how warm and welcoming the blogger community is, Elizabeth. The conversations is one of the best parts though mine is kept to the blogs. 🙂

You've been to Ireland!? Wow! That is too cool. Would love to see that someday.

  • I had no idea! Thank you for the tip!

  • I have been trying to figure out how to do this for days now! Thank you so much. My problem was I was still in Google.

  • Thanks for the tip! I got nervous that I might be one!! But I wasn't. 🙂

  • I knew how to make sure I wasn't a no-reply blogger with my blogger account but I had no clue that if you had the google+ account it automatically made you a no-reply. So thank you for sharing this!! I have changed it back 🙂

  • So, yes, apparently I was a no-reply blogger even though I could've sworn I'd fixed that months ago! *sigh* All fixed now!

  • thank you so much for this help! i've been blogging for a while, but just recently started really trying to make my blog better. thanks for the tips 🙂

  • No-reply makes me sad! For some reason mine likes to switch back and forth on it's own!? (I haven't figured that one out yet) so if you see me as one, email me please LOL

  • i had no idea that i was a No Reply commenter until a few days ago! Thanks for sharing, I'm sure you've helped lots of people like me ;D

  • I just found your blog (yay!) and found this post… thanks so much for sharing! I was definitely a 'no reply' blogger for quite some time without even realizing it until a few days ago.

  • I just recently discovered what 'no reply blogger' meant. I found out that I had been one all along never even knew! I'm so glad I did because now I can talk Doctor Who!! 🙂 Like, how brutal the wait was and how happy I was to see it back on Saturday! And how I don't know how I feel about Oswin. She seems nice enough but she'll never get full marks from me just for not being Amy! I miss the Ponds so much! (sniffle)
